I've lost a fair few riding buddies to these predators.
The scenarios were a bit different, yet similar, buddy meets new woman, new woman "loves" bikes, 3 weeks later when idiot are well and truly fuck struck, tune changes too, brrr bikes are cold/uncomfortable, what eva, why don't you buy a car now....ex riding buddy sells bike puts a new penis extension on huge HP, new woman gets bored with pussy whipping idiot who now appears boring once out of his biker leathers and moves on to next prey.
Meanwhile ex riding buddy stuck with car, a whopping hp and no bike. I started to lose sympathy fast!

I layed out the rules to my ex wife right at the start, "Please Don't ask me to choose between you and bikes, you may not like the answer"
20 years later and she was spewing when I too recently made a "unauthorized" buy of my 1st road bike in many years with my own hard earned money.
She stopped hassling me about it when I genuinely happily beamingly would reply, "yes, and it is the best thing I've done for years and I soooooo don't regret my decision"

Just the fact that you like motorcycles would suggest you are the type of person that lives for and values freedom., So with this in mind, I offer the following...People, esp wives or husbands that deal in ultimatums never like to see their partners content or happy....EVER (though they will say otherwise)

I promise you, marry this woman and You will be dominated and manipulated all your married life, if thats what you really want, then proceed with the marriage.
Otherwise, in the near horizon waits a fair maiden that will share your passion for freedom and respect you as an equal individual and yes, even share your passion of motorcycling. Do your self a favour and go find her....Pronto!

    ouch

    feel for you mate

one thing to consider before doing the marriage thing. Ask yourself the following question:

what do you want/need to be happy?

will your partner provide these things for you? do you have open communication with trust and honesty at the core of that relationship ? Can you live with her faults for next 40-50 yrs ??

if you can not answer the above questions or have doubts then hold off the wedding until you are sure on the direction you want to take .. either with her or without ..

Marriage definately does not make happiness, or a relationship easier ..& communication, comprimise should be on both sides not all one sided, or else resentment will take over the relationship and then there will be nothing left.

I can understand her resentment if your heading down the path of committment and you have made a decision & purchase without talking about it FIRST... esp when you are both saving to head overseas etc ..... but then did you make the purchase knowing she would be against it ? & hoping it would blow over and you would have your way ? With both of your attitudes, hers issuing ultimatums, & yours doing what you want without being upfront to a significant other, no its not a match made in heaven .. get out now ..!!!!

You never know the bike issue could be the straw that broke the camels back.

Every now and then an opportunity presents itself so you can demostrate male superiority. Not only will you not sell the bike, but you will buy a bigger bike of your choice.

Like most laws that are past, they appear resonable at first but then reality sinks in. I am of course referring to the law that allowed Women to vote.

I was thinking about getting Married this year, but @ the time I was bike less so before i made any commitment i went and bought a bike and just finished getting all the gears. Now I can start saving for a ring and a wedding. Cause i know as soon as that ring goes on the finger theres another party involed.

My wise words are to those that hav'nt popped the question

Dont get any of this confused with me selling my bike to buy a ring. I did it out of the love I have for my partner and she was upset, but I know that Im getting a new bike on the wedding day

Can I ask why you did? ie: because you didn't think it would be a problem at all, or because you thought it would be a drama and really wanted the bike so you did it anyway......

Neither should be a potential relationship breaker, rather it should provide an excuse to review future process in regard to "major" purchases. I don't understand the whole, 'My partner won't let me" thing. Sounds like a way out of something you didn't want to really do anyway.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I agree Jim2, these sorts of things should be discussed and understood and if you perhaps don't quite agree then a compromise must be reached - else everybody is wasting time.

Sorry mate you DO lose out big time. You lose your side in what should be a partnership for life. Instead of being equal with your future partner you have just become her possession to do with as she pleases.

What happens next time you want to do something that she doesn't agree with? Once you submit rather agree the relationship is doomed. She will become bored with you and cast you off like an old sock.

When I met my first wife I had been already been riding bikes for 5 years. Shortly after we were married (about 8 hours after in fact) she said to me "Of course now that we're married you'll sell all your bikes won't you."

Like a fool, I did. 3 months later I saw a nice bike for sale at a good price, and mentioned to her that I was going into town to buy it. She said that If I came home with a new bike, then she would leave me. Well I kept my side of the bargain and imediately went and bought the bike. She didn't keep her side of the deal and she stayed with me for 17 years and numerous more bikes.
    Time to ride
