Ministry of Justice - yeah right!

Financially wise it's been a shit week. Got a lovely letter from Ministry of Justice for an outstanding fine $210 - apparently I was pinged by a camera in October 2005 on my bike in the Hawkes Bay - and cos I have shifted twice in that time - mind you with redirection orders in place, never received reminders or the like (mind you around that time I was getting a few!!) but I thought all had been paid.

I can fill out a form 57 blah de blah. Anyway the poor sod didn't have a sense of humour at all - we were sorting out payment plans!!! I said oh maybe I could do time!! In a serious voice he said well you could go down that road, then you would have a criminal record ... ffs couldn't even be bothered saying I was joking.

So had to go thru my budget and this wanker figured out I had 50 left each week - shit I wish - remember load your costings - I was minimalistic!! Don't pay to be honest - I'd already told him about my $145 Dr's bill, my $1,500 dentist bill (well it would be that if I could afford to get it done lol). I mentioned that I guess prostitution was an option - lol - still no sense of humour!!!

Anyway it brought me some time - if I was on a benefit (as I was over Xmas time, so if I had received the bloody notices) I would have been able to pay it off at $5 a month probably!!!!

Oh well I needed to lose weight!!

Since I moved to Wellington I have also been hounded by those fn parking wardens - to the point of bloody harrassment!!! I did get off one $210 fine for my bike tho!!! I had written in asking why I got the ticket - They couldn't explain why they gave me the ticket.

All these horrible people want money from me - hell they must think I'm real rich ay - and yes I am blond!! lol

Ya gotta laugh - life's too short to sweat over this crap!!

Just don't pay it, the govt will wipe it off in few years anyway. They just wiped a few million $$$$'s worth of outstanding fines a few months back, wait a few years and your will be wiped too. Just keep moving house and they will never find you.....

I wouldn't leave it unpaid. If they just wrote off $millions of fines, it's of the hundreds of millions still being pursued. Having an unpaid parking ticket hanging over your head is like handing the police an "arrest me anytime" card and they're likely to use it when it's least convenient to yourself.

Ya have to be assertive, if not agressive with these people, it's what they're used to. Works for me.

Yeah they arent too bright there in the ministry of justice. I would string em along as much as you can. Watch it cost them just as much or more to pursue a couple of hundred bucks and it doesnt seem to worry them much, bringing me back to my first sentence.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

    You're not alone there!
Last fine I had I paid off at $21.75 per week. I think if you go back in a couple of weeks & plead poverty you could get the weekly amount reduced. No harm in trying.

Keep up the SOH...and I hope your situation improves real soon.

Hey BMW, I work for MOJ and am totally aware of what the Call Centre staff can be like. Some of them think that they are God, sorry you came across one of them. Basically they have done a SOM over the phone you can ring back and speak with a Team Leader and advise them of the situation you are in. If the Team Leader has any decency they can and should lower your payments to what you can afford. Also because they have done a SOM (statement of means) they are aware if your income, if you do not make the payments they will deduct the $$ directly from that source of income and if they do that then $100 is added to EACH fine as enforcement fees.... I strongly advise that you call back and speak with a Team Leader as the amount of stress they are putting you under is totally and morally wrong, you are not a criminal and you shouldnt be made to feel like one.
On the other side if you do fill out a form 57 and it is accepted the fine is then sent back to the issuing authority, the $30 court cost is wiped atthios time and they (the issuing authority) then have to resend the infringement notices to you that gives you another 2 months to pay it....

You're a winner with this attitude BMW.

But options you do have Go on the game outside the courthouse with a bloody big placard. you can always tell the johns to go fuck themselves if there is any ethical issues. Get hold of a camera crew and make a news item out of your self. Better still flog yourself off as Aunty Helen's pimp. That'll piss some one off.

Red face To top it all off

Anyone got a wig - any other colour than blond?? Last nite at 9.15pm I had to go to supermarket to buy coffee and after my week, a pkt of cigs, which I had been trying to give up!! for obvious reasons - flu, lack of financial means etc! I'm walking back from the supermarket and realised I didn't have my keys - they were in my apartment and not my pocket!!! Also in said apartment was my cellphone. Now I reckon the antibiotics are at fault and not cos I have blond hair!!! (can't blame a gal for trying!!!)

I thought if I went to the back entrance I could smash a window, so stood there for 5 minutes trying to think - something wasn't gelling but be buggared if I could think what it was.

So I thought I would go to the fire station 2 doors up - but was really quite hesitant on that one - cos they might recognise me, when they visited my apartment 6 weeks earlier - look it's not my fault the bloody toilet crank handled flusher thing broke!! Flooding 2 floors down. I thought they might lend me a hammer - however no doors would open, and their blinds were down so I chickened out.

Went to the hotel next door. Rang a friend - about the only number I could remember!! (while I appreciate phone books and directory assistance do exist - I was not going down that path). Thought my girlfriend's husband Theo - he could break in for me. Well he asked some really interesting questions!!!

Like ok Shirl, you smash the back door window - can you then get into the house? Uuuummm No - now THAT was the thing that obviously was not gelling!!! I would have had to try and fit thru broken window - yeah like that was a possibility NOT. And the inside door is a beautiful lead light and I did think here - na that WILL BE expensive -- then Theo pointed out that that particular window also had metal stuff thru it. FFS I certainly wasn't on a winner here.

So I had to ring a locksmith - $120 payable immediately!!! (Silent Hysterical laughter from me). So I politely asked did they have a zip zappy machine for a bankcard - yes. Phew I thought - that won't reject my already overdrawn bankcard. So at 11.15pm I finally got into my apartment.

Tonite I am giving a friend a spare key and also hide one on my motorbike YEAH RIGHT, I aint that blond - and no I don't give out my address - something REAL NICE is going to happen soon. I think with all those clouds there gonna be LOTS of silver linings. Ever bloody hopeful!! lol
Now I have had the crockpot on all day - please god , let my apartment still be there!!!
