I have just been speaking with a Contractor working up near Te Pohue ( on the Napier Taupo road) and he doubts that they will get it open today so a trip through the Naki seems the only option now for you northerners.

AA site no longer list highway 4 as being closed, a lot less distance that doing highway 3.

Transit / AA seriously need to upgrade that server , useless if its constantly overloaded when people need the information the most.
