    The Flu

Am just recovering from a bout of the flu, been feeling like I just want to die, 3 days off work and only just starting to feel alot better, sat on my front step and just injoyed the sun today.
Been the best day in a long while, would love to be out on the bike but better to stay home and warm.
Anyway went to the doctor's the other day, as he gave me the check over suggest next year I get a flu injection, come in around March that will give the vaccine time to do what it does before the colder winter weather.
I know some companys are paying to have there employees vaccinated, the people Ive spoken to that have had it say it works, this got me think if they can make a vaccine to protect you for a season, why cant they just make a cure, or is it just drug companys, if you make a cure than you cant make anymore money on that, but then they just create a new strain. what yous think.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well and I hope you get better soon. I have had a cough now for about two weeks and it is only today that I haven't had several major coughing fits.

The reason that they can't find cure-all vaccine is that there are so many diffferent strains of the flu caused by a number of different viruses. That is why you often hear about say the Hong Kong A virus or in 1918 it was the Spanish flu virus.

Hope this explains the reason why they only do a vaccine for one winter season.

I can sympathise with you old fella, I've been crook with it for several days now. It came on quite suddenly Thursday night and I was bedridden until this morning, no energy at all. Friday night was one of the worst I can remember coughing and spluttering and feeling extremely miserable. Still feeling sickly now but as experience has taught me I'll just have to wait it out...

If you have the flu jab, you had better be in A1 condition, because the immune system response will leave you open to every virus your workmates leave on the toilet seat, door handle, tap, keyboard, mouse, or unwashed hand.

I personally think that all virus vaccinations do is breed a tougher, more deadly virus.

I sort a think that way,so your saying I should just tough it out, the only thing Ive taken for this F*****N flu is Brufen tabs for the massive headache, other than that been in bed trying to sleep it out but the older you get the harder it is to shake.

This year's strain was rather nasty. My temperature went upward of 101' (for the first time in quarter century) and stayed there for three days. I really hoped that a madman with an axe would break into my house and put me out of my misery.

The 'flu jab is well worth it. I've got it every year for the last 5 years, and been 'flu-free.

But be warned - it doesn't stop you from getting "Kiwi Flu" (also known as the Common Cold........)

I'm not normaly against vaccinations but about three years ago I got the flu jab and got as sick as a dog. Never again. I usualy take a course of Buccalene Berna. This is a course of tablets. Been doing it off and on for years. What flue and cold symptoms I do get don't last long and are never very bad.

That's antibiotics. A vaccination allows the immune system 'recognition' of a viruse. Antibodies are produced from the vaccine so when a full blown virus 'attack' occurs the appropiate arsanal from the immune system can be deployed so as to defeat the virus.
