Not to mention the Suzuki Volty TU250 See my profile for a pic.

They arent sportbikes but are better than a GN250 by far.

that isn't the point.. the point is, the Rego sticker/badge doesn't say GN

Ps. Kickingzebra: was that you I saw on Lake road today? just before the roundabout.. wearing glasses with your helmet?

Nice to meet you Sea bass.
Nothing wrong with either the GN or FXR, it will really be up to you to try both and see how you fit together. The GN is a very forgiving bike, makes it easy for a learner... Its what i learned on, but back then there was very little choice of beginner bike. The FXR with its fairing will be expensive to fix if you drop it and that is likely in the beginning...most of us have done that at some point. Tho having said that i hear they are a good bike too. You really just need to try them both. Happy hunting!

Hi thanks everybody for your input I would love an FXR as my interest is really in sport bikes although I love American Chopper but they are a little more expensive than the cheaper cruiser bikes so I think Ill buy a GN or similar to learn on and then upgrade and with the spare cash invest in better gear.

if you keep your eyes peeled good ones come up for 1500 current woffed and regoed...

get in before summer though as that is when the prices sky rocket....

i still say go with the fxr as it will hold it's value.... gn's loose value so quickly it's not funny spent over 1500 buying and restoring my dear old ginny.... got 1100 for her ginnnyyyy wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

mind you now i have gpx which if you tied a gn behind and dragged it the gpx would pull it to a faster speed than a gn has ever been in saying that i got my gn to a whole 132 kph...took about 6 km's of southern motorway to get there though.... it's interesting trying to split a gn with mx bars fitted at 132.......but a learnt a hyosung quila while doing so he tried to out split me....i stopped at the same lights as him after the offramp he said fuck man you know how to split i said not bad yourself....he says mate i had the thing pinned..... and i said better luck next time..... blimin hyobags... 250cc vacuum cleaner why are they called a hyobag...because the really suck....i only give shit to hyosungs / hyshit/ hyobag/ hyomop/hyo 1 ply toilet paper ....because i can
