I'm a sports nut too - but I rarely watch a whole game. (Soccer or Rugby.)
The diving, hassling the referee and culture of Soccer I find really ugly.
    I just follow the results.
Sounds like we wuz robbed last night.

    They weren't soccer hooligans.

That was the traditional local welcome.

Postie, thats cause it was an Arsenal game.....go to any of the smaller clubs and its a lot better. All of the London clubs have crap atmospheres, its all about the money with them.
Sarge it wasn't soccer hooligans it was a lone Scottish nutter.....everybody knows they're mental

so its just my imagination that the news has been awash with football violence and riots at every world cup or large football tournament?
The fact that the Germans had to make it illegal to imitate any Nazi signs to stop the football supporters from luring the Germans into fights????

Most of the violence still occurs during world cup or large tournaments like you say.
My favourite soccer is english premiership where violence rarely occurs these days. If it does happen its usually at a shit teams ground where the locals are known to be nutters.......only really a handful of teams, and none I would support.
I don't watch much anymore, I prefer to be there.
Motorsport is my main interest now, Rossi and the guys of Motogp will always be more exciting.
Any time the Germans and English are bought together there will always be tensions......the fact that Hitler decided to try and take over the world will be difficult to forget. Its also fun taking the piss out of them

If people want to watch it (and they obviously do cos its the most popular game in the world) then so be it, but i refuse to acknowledge it as a sport when it has no qualitys of sport at all.
You obviously don't like it. Why again did you used to go most weeks?

You didn't have to use MY quote to highlight it. I was making a flippant comment, and I've seen rugby player do worse, on and off the field. We won't talk about home invasion, rape, or trying cause a spontaneous abortion by beating your girlfriend about the torso, sticking fingers up other players anuses, or any of the other meathead behaviours "professional" rugby playersd bring to society. That wasn't my point, but if you want a deep and meaningful, bring it on.

cos my boss asked me to go, i never enjoyed the game but the food and drinks were worth the 90 minutes. I like sport and i tried to like football, at least i gave it a try, a lot of people would just dismiss it with out having any knowledge or experience of the sport.

yea sorry man.. wasnt anything towards you... i just hit the button to reply.. i was just making a point about the fan hooliganism that seems rampant in Soccer..even the riots in Germany over the last few days over a FRIKKIN GAME...

not a huge fan of any of the ball sports personally, but if you put a set of slicks and a supercharger on it.. im all over it.

maybe if we changed the rules of soccer to be played in a minefield i might tune in

    bullfighting is cool too

Unlike F1, MotoGP, WRC, SBK. Those guys have a hard job paying the mortgage on their shacks in Monaco........

If you could make the distinction between rugby union and rugby league you might realise most of this shit was league players.

As for football hooliganism, the organised thuggery should be open season for the armed pigs, but a lot of the pissed up fights would occur anywhere with that many pissed up guys in such a confined space.
