Ability to close your own threads?

No essential, just a nice to have, but it raised the question- are we able to close our own threads, or can this feature be added?

I needed a favour yesterday - got some responses and at that point didn't want to waste anyone elses time.

Maybe a self move to PD option?! instead of destroying it....

    just a thought

EDIT: Missread your close thread as a delete thread, but my option still stands!

    Cool

MDU - Contact a mod or SpankMe to close it for you...
Explain the reason why and they will happily do it for you.

Send them the link to it as well, as it saves them hunting throu thousands of threads.

Actually - 'tis a a good point. Maybe some self help options might ease the load on the mods?

Ability to "downgrade" a thread - i.e. move it to PD, close it, delete it... ?

Or is that already there and I'm so blind I canny see it?

Hmm, that would have to be managed/set up very carefully... lots of loop holes screaming for mis-use from my perpective.

I would rather say - pm a mod in that forum or one of the Senior Mods and it can be done

That's what I was wondering about... never having been a mod I can only imagine the problems that might come up -

After a "woopsie" today, I would have liked the opportunity to delete a thread I created. Perhaps if there were no other replies to a thread, then the ability to delete it should be there?

I can see what Joni means. You could start something abusive, then delete, supposedly deleting trace of it (don't think it is tho, not immediately)

Closing might be an option, as it is still there for proof. However, if it is something practical, then what if I search for something, find it from a while back, but can't just follow the thread on?

Other forums that I have frequented over the years have had an option to delete a post if there were no replies. Handy especially items for sale or requests for help.

Usually with the statement added "Private message or email me directly so I can delete this thread when finished" also "please do not post replies in thread" helps.

    just my 2c worth.

Mods can still see deleted threads/posts in thier respective forums but it would add more hassle cause then we'd have to check each one incase there are insults and such.

Yeah, it sure would be annoying to have posts deleted, wouldn't it.
