get 30th of may -Manfeild back on track.

Ok guys Ive spoken to CHris Costello club prez AMCC.
His advise was to speak to the Victoria club Prez whos name is Barry New
Vic club is on -pH-049043866 Or phone Manfeild promotions directly.
on 063237444 > Its a situation of too many hoon activities in the past.
It needs to be presented in such a way as it is a clearly controlled situation.
Whoever contacts them needs to have it made clear that bikes will be only allowed on the track if up to WOF standard --It would also help if fire safety equipment--Fire extinqushers etc were intended to be supplied--also possibly a crash recovery vehicle--be it a trailer with sand -(to put on the track if there is a spill)and fire equipment on it.
I can't do much up here --so SOMEBODY pull finger and dont let it just happen

Does This Effect CDMCTC Manfield Fun Days?

Central Districts MC Touring Club held a Manfield Fun Day 2/1/2004. It was well run. Bikes were scrutineered, all glass had to be taped, there were medics available and marshells on the corners. You didn't need a race licience, but a bike licience of some sort was needed. Rides were put into speed catagories (slow, medium, fast and racing). Slow and medium were set by a pace bike. The organisers let a rider know if they felt that the rider needed to go into a faster catagory. Riders were warned if they behaved irrasponcibly and band if they continued.

As I said it was well run. Eveybody enjoyed the day (I was stoked, as it was my first time on a track) and only cost $40 for the day. I've have been a bit disappionted that Puke Bike Only Days have not been up to this level (hence why I started this Thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=2773 as I feel that it was a matter of time before this happened to Puke). I would be very disappointed (read as serveerly fu*ked off) if Bike Only Days as well run as CDMCTC @ Manfield were no longer be able to be run.

PS: the contact phone no. in the Motorcycle Trader for the CDMCTC Manfield Fun day was Bruce 021 432672. It would be interesting to see how their club feels about the Manfield ruling.

I have also put this in the other Manfield thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=2776

Why Are We Not Even Discussing This?

Are We Just Aparthetic or are people not see's this Tread?
We have been discuss and moaning about all sorts of things on this site, but here is an issue we should care about and possibly do something about.
We've discussed using this site pollicial for the benefit of the biker comunity, why aren't we using it here?

Please read and comment on these threads related to this issue as well:

RIB, it wont affect clubs hiring the track for open days, it just means Manfeild wont run open days themselves.

In a way, I can see their point. I have left a message for them to call me back and hopefully something will come of it.

Shit, I'm glad to hear that as that would have been a real disaster for Motorcycle Sport. But you can see the concern I had. There is not enough safety precautions taken on Open Track Days (well, not from what I have seen at Puke), and I feel that if any form of Open Days are going to remain, we as users are going to have to try and implement some before we loose the access to racing tracks for non-racing events altogether.

This morning I called Bruce at Central Districts M/c Club. He wasn't aware of change and will inform the club. The next CDMC track day is not until Janyuary 2005. The problem is to hire the track ourselves will cost about $2000 and we/someone has to pay up rain or shine!
I am waiting to hear back from Manfeild promotions myself in reponse to my email (Sat. 22nd). They have not specifically said that bikes are ruled out in their News bulletin, only that due to safety issues with the cars they must tighten the rules.... Talking with Bruce we may have a hope if we tell them that we can front up with x number of bikes at their new "clubman car sprint days" so can we have some track time as well. Maybe we can police ourselves i.e. WOF checks, safe clothing (no jeans). I spoke with Barry New, Victoria M/c Club Pressie and all their Vic. days are for racing registered riders only
Please anyone reading this send an email to Manfeild promotions (its on their manfeild.co.nz site) pleading for some time for ordinary road bikes. (sorry folks, road bikes are far from ordinary)

Im waiting to hear a reply to my e-mail with more specific details.

Agree with Mark about the hiring ourselves - if it rains who would still attend -no refunds ?

We would need to nut out several aspects before hiring ourselves for a group anyway, such as track safety and liability should things go wrong.

Has anyone else been to a 'test' day, or thought about organising a group to go up for 'test' days ?

Cycosis and I have - not sure who was responsible for marshalls, ambo's etc though ?

Ive not looked at manfeild but...

I think the same would apply as at Pukie.
costs are 1) track hire--non refundable deposit
    2)public liability insurance,
    3) ambulance staff
    4)fire safety equipment.
I think if 50 guys turned up the cost per rider would be $70 each there about
I think worth finding out is how big a deppy would be needed

Just got this e-mail from Manfeild Promotions. I'm going further.

Hello to you all and thank you for your emails regarding the re-structured Public Open Days, now known as Manfeild Open ClubSport Days.

Firstly, the decision to re-structure these days was not an easy one, and as stated it did come about because of safety issues. If a major accident occurred, especially if fatal, we the organisers and owners of the circuit would face legal charges. Under the ClubSport rules a permit will be issued from Motorsport New Zealand, and the day would run under the ClubSport Rules in the Motorsport manual, but this only covers cars not motorcycles. So we will be pursuing Motorcycling New Zealand on this issue as it is our endeavour to incorporate motorcycles in the new look Manfeild ClubSsport Days.

We value your custom, and very much enjoy having you here at Manfeild, so please bear with us as we work through the behind the scenes paperwork.

    Many thanks

    Manfield Days

Following a call from a member of this forum yesterday regarding Manfield open days. Im not surprised that they have changed the structure of there open days. Its about time in all honesty.

Im the prsident of CDMTCI and like to thankyou for the positive comments about our clubs open day. Its a pleasure to run it when we get positve feed back.

Managment of Manfield has recently changed hands. e have unfortunetly lost out annual open day date of Jan 2nd (to the scouts believe it or not!). But we are still looking to run 2 days next year. Sat 15 Jan and Sat 26 Feb.

In regards to Manfields current days it would be sux if we still couldnt have time for bikes at these days. In regards to safety equipment for the day this should be upto the organisers to supply ... we supply ours. I live 15 mins from the track and can supply a trailer if required. I am only a call away. If I cant get it there I can organise some one in the club to come to the aid of a fellow motorcyclist.

We have a club run on Saturday with a feed that night. I will try to round up some bodies to attend on Sunday so as to push our case to the organisers to let bikes out there ... we werent the problem after all!

    Cheers Busted.

Surely this is a simple matter of producing a legal disclaimer the waives their obligation as an 'event provider'. Essentially - we sign a waiver saying our 'fee' allows us access to the course and we have no right of recourse to the course owners or management in the event of accident or injury blah blah'.

    Simple as that.
