    I'd give this a shot.
Last year i nicked off with a guys nifty fifty from school who complained about its 25km/h limit that it couldn't get past.
So i 'borrowed' it from the carpark, whipped the exhaust pipe & can off of it, chopped the can in half with the bandsaw and used a combination of degreaser, compressed air and oxy gas torch to blow all the crap out of it. Then promptly welded the can back together, and returned it to it's proper place.
Now it bounces off the limiter at about 55km/h.

Not guaranteed to be your problem but have heard many a scooter with this problem.

    As attached.
Tis' called the float bowl as it is literally a bowl that fills with fuel and has floats in it that keep it filled to the right level inside. (like a toilet float system.) Also inside here are the jet(s), should be in the middleish area between floats, which are brass coloured and removed with screwdriver.(if similar to all other ones i've worked on).

Looks as though the carb might need to come off, as it may be tricky to get at the far float bowl screw. depends on how similar your model is.

I was just told I may not have a variator in my scooter due to its age.
E.g. it has one fixed ratio.

Does anyone know how I can check if it has one... externally?

    hey Rabbi.

Your scoot does have one set gearing with a centrifgual clutch.

You best mod is to clean the muffler out.

Other wise you just need to remember- its a old scoot thats had hard life.

    ok RG100, thanks for that.
i am thinking of getting a Honda Pal motor... I heard they come with variators.
that way I could mod it to give me more top end if need be.

do you know of anywhere that sells second hand scooter motors?

also, do you know if i would need to change anything else other than the motor?
    e.g. CDI, starter, carbi?

yeah i have been in contact with him. his suggestion was clean out the muffler on this beast and see if its enough.

if not i can buy new jets from them and throw on a pod filter.

what he really wanted me to do was put a Honda Pal motor in there... I am actually really keen on getting it but cant find one.

Ok, I did 2 flushes with Caustic Soda (I cant use the flame method as I dont have access to any of the equipment).
The total performance gain was nothing... still maxes out at 43km/h

I have the carbi off and will clean it out and maybe change the main jet to last me until I find another motor.

Does anyone know where I can get a AF05E (with variator), AF18E or AF24E motor?
I can do the install myself but I cant find those motors anywhere!

All wreckers I have contacted don't stock them...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers
