    Helmet laws - Davida?

Can you get Davida helmets in NZ and are they legal? Are helmet laws strictly enforced?

Yes - from Motomail, so presumably they're legal.
Yes, helmet laws are strictly enforced. But why would you not want to wear one? Do you like brain injuries?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

Jet model is legal - Pudding bowls etc are not.

I've been using a Jet for 3-4 years.
    My favorite town helmet.

It takes a pretty unique person to not look like a complete idiot in one of those pudding bowl helmets anyway.

I don't think the ban has anything to do with safety - just good taste.

Helmets are the law in Canada, but they all have to be DOT-Approved. The Davida helmets are not DOT-approved, so are technically illegal. The police don't check the helmet stickers in Canada, just want you to wear something. I guess I was wondering if the DOT or Snell approvals are ever checked in NZ.

    Thanks,

There are standards that apply and a polismun can ask to inspect your helmet to see if it complies. However, if this has ever happened, it would only be in a case where a helmet looks really dodgy, like a replica Nazi helmet or whatever.

Or you were doing some serious gobbing off.

In Oz I've actually watched what should have been a tap on the wrist turn into manacles for getting the shits at an officious Officer.

The louder you gob - the harder they look.

I guess with the standards it makes sense - at least your getting something of a known quality / standard.

Beats finding out that your helmet that "should" have been OK turns out to be a piece of crap when you hit the gutter.

"The louder you gob - the more they look" - Im shocked how many people forget this and think that they are being smart a$$es when the cops writing out infringement after infringement. - Then they call the cop the idiot -

When you come to New Zealand you become the property of The New Zeaalnd Government.

And the Government likes to look after its property - healthy slaves are an investment, unhealthy slaves are a liability.

So you will have to wear a helmet, even on your push bike.

You will be publicly ridiculed if you smoke - if you can find anywhere you are allowed to smoke that is.

You are not allowed to eat pies in case you get fat - Helen doesn't like fat slaves.

Don't be caught drinking in an unlicenced public place, in most towns and cities its illegal.

Don't ride your bike on the beach, unless its registered and warranted, and even then don't go near the marram grass, its precious.

Enjoy your stay in the world most over regulated shit hole.

I think Singapore has that distinction.
