Yes, I know, it is one of those Birthdays that just shouldn't sneak up on you...and yet somehow, despite all the jeering and learing from my younger siblings, workmates and other miscellaneous riff raff, it was almost with some surprise that I awoke to a resounding "Happy 30th birthday" this morning.
Fuck.Wednesday had been shaping up, from about last year, to potentially suck the big one anyway...too much to do, too few hours in the day blah blah...ahhhh now I understand, it's because I've become an old bastard, and the years are flying by waaaay quicker than when I was a spritely young chap...I've caught myself saying things like...shit is it July already, or, I thought that was last week, what do you mean it was 2 months ago...
The walking stick prezziewasn't too much of a surprise and I had to chuckle..yeah, you'll keep gorgeous girl...although it came witha beer mug with a bicycle bell on it for me to ring whenever I need a refill, which seeing as I now apparently need the walking stick to get about the place, I thought was quite considerate...
I recall thinking I would be hard pressed to survive to the ripe old age of 30 when I was a bit younger...I had a few attempts at checking out early (fucking cages) but for whatever reason survived some pretty interesting situations...30 seemed like such a long way off at 18, but I have to agree with the majority...it goes fucking fast...by the time you've spent a few years here and there in the Army, a few years here and there playing at security, a few years here and there diving, a few years here and there profile cutting, a few years here and there stuck in a fucking office, it really doesn't take that long to get to the big 3...0...
So yeefreakinhaa, 30 down, who knows how many to go, as long as the bike goes hard and the beer is cold...I'll be there with bells on...take it easy today team...I know I will..
