They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

hmm & why is that ??

cause they have such low opinions of themselves,

or media's perception of eternal youth,

or cause they want to keep a partner happy

I would think it would be the first one ..

True...do you think it is peer pressure or are men to blame for women having low self esteem.

Most stuff on TV and Media etc does seem to be all about looking good and that you can only be happy if you have a fit bod etc....it must be hard for women.

    Just posing the questions.

hmm dunno cause I am not one hung up on looks .. do i take care of myself .. yeah but not to obession state

being that kids (mostly girls) are getting hung up on image from school age upwards ... yes 5 yr olds don't want to be thought of as fat .. girls as young as 9 dieting .. guess its roots start off young, then because its ingrained takes them into adulthood.

of course already having poor body image before meeting someone special does not help .. but then depends if that partner is critical of the way their woman dresses or the aging process can perpetuate it even more.

It is because they have such low opinions of themselves BECAUSE of the Media pressure for eternal youth and because their partners are all caught up in the youth/beauty/image bullshit too! It wont stop until people start to appreciate that gravity always wins and people DO grow old! Just go with it Enjoy it! Celebrate it!

Some people are fat and use excuses to persuade themselves that it's ok. Some people are skinny and use excuses to claim they're too fat. Being healthy is a choice and kids need to be given the choice by good education - healthy dietry habits, excercise and good rest. It's about balance.

Not sure I get the water bit.....however, I guess peer pressure is a biggy.....I think parents can help because love conquers.....my Daughter will spend her life in a wheelchair and I am sure gonna make sure that she has self esteem, confidence and independence and be happy....and not let her disability affect her life.

I agree but in today's society balance is sometimes hard to achieve.....guess you could say that is an excuse, however, kids and healthy habits seem to get lost in what Parents are doing...working.....lack of quality time....not in all cases I know.

You're a saint KYBoy - unfortunately saints don't sell. It's about creating "needs" things that people want and are convinced by advertisers that they actually need them. Have you ever heard "You wonder how you ever got by without one." in an ad?

You remember 'rain don't you KYBoy? Lots of it means floods.... Like the Ark, Pasta KY

the water bit .. poos has been dealing with flooding you know on the news .. waiarapa .. shit loads of rain etc ..

peer pressure is huge .. after all you know how kids are .. they think its funny to torment, be mean, cruel, but the effects can be life changing and catastrophic ..

you will do fine with your daughter, listen to her, yes building up her self esteem, & confidence will go a long way to make her independant & happy.

The funny thing is the guys with the smart comments, wait til they have a daughter .. will they perpetuate the fear, insecurity, lack of esteem etc or will they love her just for being her .. just the way she is ??

yup loving Nats the way she is, & for what she is, but also taking the opportunities to build up the areas of her life that you want her to be strong in .. funny how girls really really need their dad. The support & love they gives means so much more ..

awwwwwwwwww there is someone out there that will accept you for you ..... just gotta sort out the glitter from the pure gold
