Well I hear Helen Clark has condemmed them also... They must be really really afraid now, hell for all they know, NZ might supply video clips of helen clark to other international agencies to jam North Korean communications and broadcast helen clark's pictures on their TV sets in order to permeanently psychologically impair their population... After all, soldiers with mental illness wouldn't fight very well.....

Yeah, I can see it now.

"Fucked if I know Chun Li, best hit the self destruct button"

The range on those things should be great, they'll only need to stop once between Whangarei and Wellington for gas, eh swampy?

I know about the war and tension between North and South Korea, but I wasnt aware that the US had any other influence apart from arming the South Koreans and helping them train. I used to know more, but gave up checking them out a while ago

Unless there is complete peace then there will always be a squad of American Marines stationed there.

Ok... just to help me understand this I have some questions...

    1. Why does it matter that they have big weapons?

    2. If they are "testing" missles, which country were they aimed at?

    3. If they are only "testing" the missles, whats the problem?

    4. Isn't this similar to the Iraq situation?

    5. Why does everyone care?

    Its a threat

Not aimed at a country. Usually aimed at an ocean or testing facility

Missiles are never accurate and no one knows what they contain or type they are= Threat

    Answers:

    1. Because the Americans ... I mean UN told them not to.
    2. It was aimed at pissing people off (not really a country as such but hey) oh and get it as far as they can get it so they can say loudly "hey see we can make thing go really really far....."
    3. See question 1
    4. Ummm... if it was like Iraq situation, americans will be invading North Korea right now... they're not. Also if they did invade North Korea, it would be a war for South Koreans not Americans... South Koreans have also been trying to "peacefully reunite" the Koean people for decades now so war just won't fly. (and south koreans yell really really loud.)
    5. Because it makes them feel important. It's just like the local councils bark and moan all the time and deny people resource consents because it makes them feel all important.

    *sigh*

    thanks for all the answers...

So basically, the mighty US of A is scared that another country might come close to having even a 10th (most likely less) of the firepower they have... so they are really only a threat to the US. And thats what it boils down to right?

You can add, why weren't the Merkins as upset when Pakistan tested nuclear capable missiles?
