Bandwidth 101:

kbps = kilobits per second.
8 bits per byte.
56kbps = a theoretical limit of 7 kilobytes per second (kb/s) downstream.

I could mail some people in Auckland a copy if they're genuinely on dialup and if I'm feeling especially nice. Mind you I'm a poor student so this is a fleeting moment of charity.
