    Stand Up Comedy?

Have many of you been to stand up comedy? Sam and I have been to amatur (Sp) night twice now to support a mate, and I never realised how fun it was... ok honestly some of the newbies really suck and because I've been twice I've also noticed that if the newbie is up there a second time they tend to repeat the same jokes... but still a great "cheap" (only $5 entry, and then drinks on top of that) night out.

Is anyone going to any of the events for comedy fest? Recommend anyone in particular?

I will never go unless its a well known name. I spent 7 years of my life being a joker and I sucked at it. No point at being reminded.

You are right, it is fun, but only if you hit them in the head with a rotten tomatoe
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

its good fun, Ive done it a few times. Or rather i used to. I haven't done one for about 18 months though.

The MC's are really good, it shows the contrast between the pro's and the amatures.

Nights at places like the comedy club can be quite variable, but the good nights more than make up for the not so good ones.

As for the comedy festival, there are a few different acts I'll be going to see. I'll likely see Andy Parsons again (bald pommie guy, that narrows it down ). Plus chuck in a few of the international acts such as Arj Barker, Stephen Amos etc. Phil Nicol steals the best titled show of the series "Nearly Gay".... hmmm the mind wobbles.

The smaller caberet style venues are much more fun as it's more intimate and you can knock back a few bevarages while enjoying the show.

Get amongst it, laughing is second only to adrenaline.

I just saw Brendan Lovegrove (MC) there among others the weekend before last. Bloody funny. He's dirty as f*ck so dont take your old Auntie Maude 'cause she will NOT approve.

    I loved it.

There's a Comedy Night at Hamilton Gardens on Friday night (12th May @ 7:30). I'm gonna go watch that.. Bunch of comedians from all over, but mainly Auckland.. $20 per ticket..

Image how much fun HE had watching Kiwis play cricket.

Professional Stand up is much easier to write than deliver - (first hand experience)

    I'd go to the festival.
