Just one question though - has lowering Mrs. KD's machine (how much by total?) affected the ground clearnace much? Still able to biff it into corners without grinding the pegs too early? Reason I ask is despite not being a short guy (I'm 5'10"ish) I like having a slightly lower bum position as it's more comfortable when stopped at lights etc and would consider lowering mine a smidge. I am around your hight and find that I pretty much have foot flat on the ground most times. And I have also put in an ohlins shock and suprisingly the front forks are quite good, so they are working well together on the bike. Also having the rear higher or the front lowered will make it corner faster.

so without sounding like a complete n00b

how do I remove bar ends?

There's a screw in the end, but the bar end moves about 12mm without touching the screw.
I gave the screw a fair yank last night, and it wouldn't move
am I perhaps just a poor little white office worker with no strength? or am I missing something?
