I had a chat with the mechanics and they told me the high quote was for insurance reasons. They have to replace every damaged part instead of fixing it, otherwise if something goes wrong again with that part the insurance company won't pay out again.
Still not worth fixing though so I'm going to wait for the insurance assessors to give me the go ahead for a new bike.. they'll give me a new bike with the same market value ($7000)
I'd love to just go out and buy an RS250 or NSR right now but realistically I may end up ordering another hyosung 250R until I get my full license
Nice CBR there Alex.. too bad they're a little small for me. I went and sat on one at the dealers and felt like a gorilla on a circus bike.. and I'm only 6" 80kg
It was just a freak ocurance the way the bike landed, dont be put off Hyosungs because of it, i got high sided by a cager at about 30kph, i went flying and the bike hit the ground hard, slid for a bit, spun for a bit, i picked it up minus a brake lever, foot peg, indicator, rode that baby home, albeit coughing and spluttering a bit i thought she came off ok considering.
The bike shop said a new fairing for it was only going to be $250 and that they were real suprised, they had no trouble accessing parts for these bikes either which is good news for a learner rider.
Here is a perfect example of how good these bikes are when it comes down to the build quality. I will not deny that mistakes have been made in various areas, but they are easily identified mistakes and will be refined in time to reach the mythical level of perfection.
And what's this I hear of GSX-R frames snapping in half without cause?

By bike has been in the bush's twice and hit the ground at 50kmh once. Just pay for it out of your own pocket. My bet would be that if you had just gone and bought the parts you probably wouldnt have gone over your excess and wouldnt be getting stuffed around by the insurance company or the bike shop (red baron?)

where opinion holds more weight than fact.
It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
My opinion is still firmly that the build quality on these is shocking.. had to cabletie the chainguard on today because *ANOTHER* bolt came off.. thats three so far. Never had that problem with the jap bikes I've owned.
Good value for money tho if you were just commuting.. still not enough power for open road riding really.. I've had mine de-baffled and de-restricted and I almost got sassed by a 150 today![]()
Would sell mine and buy a cbrr but at this stage I would be out of pocket a bit too much for my liking.. looks like i'm stuck with it for a while.. oh well.. it does look pretty in the driveway![]()
yep. i own a brand new hyosung gv250. looks great but overall quality compared to japas is crap. started rusting within 2 weeks of buying it. shame my single banger fxr150 can nearly beat it at 0 - 100 and will twat it at top speed.fxr150 top 155. hyosung 138.
