In most cases yes you'd have to replace it. Some people will file the grooves down but this is only temporary as the plate tabs will have more clearance to move around in causing the grooves to reform. You know it's real bad when the clutch won't engage smoothly.
I file mine and the clutch will work fine, it may rattle a bit more.Originally Posted by cheese

I would save some money and file it carefully and keep the angles to the plates the same, after all it will get you going and save you some money.

just buy another if you cant file the grooves out...i bought a TLR basket with plates/pressure plate from germany for $110 inclusive of postage...rang a wrecker here and the pricks wanted $350![]()
