Anyone meet Terry Pratchett (you know Disc World). Not given you any shit? Allright and all that?
Met Terry Pratchett in Southampton and he is an utter geek, but very lovely. Speaks with a lisp (as if that matters, but it does add to the image). He picked out my accent in 2 seconds flat and made some time for a chat in a very busy Waterstone's book signing session. I've bought every book .

Mr Adams' books are very good and I recommend them to anyone with an eye for humour and a delectation for sci-fi parody. Shame about the person but the books are great.

Yeah well,my mate had a 283 and a 2 speed powerglide in his MKIV,put there cause the 350 lunched.I used to drive it a lot,it also had an inline overdrive - it was cool to cruise it at the ton down the motorway, then put your foot down, kick out of overdrive and pass something. The powerglide had no kickdown so we just drove it in the one gear.

Huh - highjacked into a car thread and it's not even my fault!

The Red Dwarf books were better.

Anyway, HHGTTG might have had a tosser of an author, but it is still a bloody good book. Just dont buy it.....:P
    Fav name? Zaphod Beeblebrox.

Terry Pratchett? I liked most of his books..... highlights? The Librarian, The Gods, The Policemen in Ankh-Morpork

Edit: Hows that? all three subjects of this thread in one post

Just thought you guys were making fun of my believes, calling Ford Prefect a car (OK I'm Being Total Silly Now).

Yep, The Librarian is way cool. Almost makes you want to be an ape (Zed, word of warning, don't ever be as foolish as to call the Librarian a monkey ) .

Death is a really nice chap to, once you get to know him. Rode a bike in "Soul Music" (you know, "Music with rocks in it"). I think the Dean had a leather jacket with "Live To Rune" on it in the same book.

Well fuck you all as I am immortal. Seeing as most of you will end up here as God's views biking as a sin......I think you will like it down here. We have the track that has donated the most bikers to my domain here - The Isle of Mann. We have naked brauds (no PC womans terms down here) everyone and they all swallow (coz him up there don't like that). Bike tyres are free as I want shit loads of donuts and burn outs down and meat and beer is the staple for every meal.

Quick hurry and kill yourself - see you all soon

He didn't rate NZ highly, and such was his disdain for our "culture" (somehow he used to say that word with the inverted commas when talking about NZ) he turned up to a formal dinner in T-Shirt, "slacks" and "plimsols", as he so elegantly called his cheap white sneakers. He also refused to speak to anyone except the Managing Director of William Collins, so I think the general message was that I should be privileged to be in his presence. Of course I felt I was, but it was still a fairly demeaning experience overall.

I don't have an autographed copy of any of Mr Adam's work, even though I came prepared with the HHGTTG I chose for my 5th form History prize. It has a certificate in front and everything. I showed it to him, he opened it and burst out laughing and handed it back.

Jeeze... I think I read some of his opinions on his website or something before and wasn't too impressed by them.

His books are bloody brilliant, but it's a shame about the person behind them.

Terry Prachett's books are great too, I think he's not quite as cynical as D.Adams.

Haven't ever read any Red Dwarf books, but the tv series was cool

I've read every one of the Discworld books, but don't actually own any. Must stock up some time. TP sounds like a good chap, you can kinda tell from his semi-regular contributions to alt.fan.pratchett.

Well, that's a real shame. I did have some vague idea about his snottiness but never really had much to do with the DNA 'fan community', so haven't heard similar stories before. In any case, the last two books of the HHGTTG 'trilogy in five parts' were a bit shite. So a posthumous BLAAHHHHH to you, Mr Adams.

I did like the Dirk Gently novels, though, and the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul has become a bit of a Random family catchphrase.

And all this coming from a second rate deity.......poor Allah

Motorcycles are devilish and hardly blessed - why do you think they cost a fortune to service.

Helen Clarke has no place in hell......in fact I need to 'dispose' of her - because if she carries on - Hell will be a holiday compared to living in NZ.

You can have the fucken thruxton......and your virgins - we have dirty bitches and bikes on nitro!

Doesn't the sand fuck the drive trains there tho?
