    We could get some showers.
    And like you said overcast.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

6 of us met up at Mcleans Island and rode up the Waimak river banks to the intake - around 35-40km and back again. Weather and track conditions were great, just enough mud to have a bit of fun, no dust, the ground was just moist enough for great traction - except for the bit where my front wheel decided to choose it's own path and the rest of the bike went out in sympathy and had a wee lie down A good mix of high and low speed bits, dirt roads and tight and twisty in the trees.

Still tired at the end of the ride, but way better than my last time there in the snow and ice. Home to a big chunk of chocolate cake and a coffee, mmmm.

Great ride guys, I had a ball, cant wait to see the video

Had an awsome time again thanks guys. Front of my legs are sore today due to the pace from Weedons Ross up so need a bit more training I think. I dont have any photos to add cause they are all of the same thing.

Can't wait to see some of the video from this one Transalp if the video of the north side is anything to go by!

    Cheers

Hi, I am keen to join up on my first "kiwibiker" ride. Will my 200cc Marshin be ok on the trip? Do you need full blown knobblies or will my semi-road tyres be ok?

    you'll be fine, and welcome.
Except for myself on the CRF230 this ride everyone else was on road regestered bikes with DOT approved duel purpose tyres. The one's with the more open pattern managed better than the more road orientated tyres but the close pattern tyres stll made it all the way. And the small bikes had size/weight advantages this trip.

I'll pull some frames and post pict's soonish (maybe Friday), watch for my next post.

Sure, come along and have some fun, as Transalper says you'll be right - but what the hell's a Marshin, other than a wee green man.

By the way, I'm keen on the same deal out the back of the van the others got this time round too

I'm new to the "group" if you can call us that and have done two trail rides now (this one and the other Waimak one earlier in July). I did the first one on very worn street orintated tyres (got new tyres for warent purposes now though) so you'll be fine. I tend to hang out near the back of the group and help others and the rest are really good at waiting and helping to.

I'm on a 250 "adventure" bike (not a hard out dirt bike) and seem to keep up, unless they are going slow for me I've found this group great to learn from too. I've heard that the marshin 200 is a XR200 based bike so should be fine.

That shit outta the back of the van was good stuff man - especially when I havent paid for it yet - owe you TA. Yer bring on the video, I got the same pics as everybody else and wanna see how much of a nana I was being while moving.

    Cheers

My "Marshin" is a chinese copy of the XL200, slightly more plush than the XR200. Alas, it isnt green, but Blue....

Look forward to the ride, and seeing some footage of your last trip!

Nigelp you are more than welcome to splash around in the mud with us.

Mate I"m running these cheap-o tires (testing) and I can get around so you should be fine.

As you may of read before, bring something to eat (Lollies, snack bar etc.) and water to drink and just to be safe a spare spark plug and a spanner.
A good sense of humour and prepared to get dirty and tired.

We are yet to figure out where we are riding next.
Russell is going to take me up in his micro-light to look at some new riding area's soon.

But because the day light hours are still short, I do not think we should travel to far,(yet) come summer we should.
