    Sounds like a great idea.

November or later would definitely suit me.

Would have to confirm my availability with the CFO/COO closer to the time as I will have to leave her at home (don't think she'd like the back of the CRM).

Then its each off home at a time that suits each rider etc. Each rider to make their own arrangements of accomodation. Looking forward to see you all.

I just found out today that my eldest son begins work at the Hermatage on 1st December, so that's another good reason to make the trip.. He's assistant Bar Manager, so Stromfrau and I will probably stay there for the sunday night as well.

Any of the Dunedin riders joining in for this trip? So far it looks like SD, OR and us from Otago, and everyone else is from Canterbury.

Looking forward to seeing you Janatar. Was thinking of posting something just to keep this up front. Which reminds me I'd better get some sort of bunkhouse sorted for me somewhere.

Hi guys, I'm starting to get interested in this trip as well. Is there any accomodation organised at this stage? - I reckon I could get a pretty good shearers quarters on a station near Omarama - probably free, but we'd have to take all our food etc (the etc probably weighing more than the food!!)
It would be great to have us stay as a group somewhere and get to meet some new faces.
I would stay with a mate in Alex on Friday night and ride up with Jantar & SD if they let me keep up.

I kinda assumed that actually - and that Stromfrau would give your helmet a bloody good smacking if you started to ride at speeds that would leave me and the "of course I'm law abiding" Mr SD in the distance!!
I presume the OR on your list was OldRider? - you still going on this one John?

I'll join you fellas once I have brought my V-Strom. I have ridden around the Mainland heaps and so oftern was hanging to go beyond the "loose"' roads.
I was amazed at how far I could push my GSX-R1100 with my wife on the back and shit loas of camping gear, though. We did a few basic river crossings-got bloody wet, and rode for miles on "loose'roads but always felt as though we we missing out on the real Mainland riding.
    SHIT whats that noise.

At least I should be able to make the Nelson ride/rally.

There are two events this year that I really want to go to and yes you guessed right, they both now fall on the same bloody day or weekend.

The North Island Coast to Coast, Himatangi beach (West Coast) to Akitio beach. (East Coast)

    Very nostalgic cruise for me.

I was borne in Palmerston North, grew up in Woodville, spent many school holidays at Himatangi beach, went to high school at Dannevirke, spent holidays at Pongaroa and my first job after leaving school was at Akitio.

This year I was determined to go on a pilgrimage of nostalgia but it is on the same bloody weekend as the SI KB ride-in at Mount Cook!

To say that I am disappointed is the understatement of the year for me.

Suffice to say I am not yet decided as to which event I will be going to. John. (Damn)
