Is that North Isalnd coast to coast an annual thing at these locations? - if not then I'm sure there can be another southern KB'r ride put together to meet all these guys (maybe even at the March Hare?)
Be a bugger not having my transalp riding mate there tho' - good luck with your decision

I haven't had much luck getting a reply from my contact for accomodation - I suspect they're away on holiday. When I get an answer I'll post it here. In the mean time is there still a group coming from Canterbury?? - about how many and who?
Otematata is another good place to stay and ORider says he'll check out amoungst the many local options for us. Some guide for numbers would help.
Mt Cook is an easy car hour from Omarama and only another 10 mins from Otematata so the location is pretty good.

Thats great. Looks like we'll all be staying in different groups. Thats cool we'll just have to compare stories on Sun morning - will you guys ride down there Fri night or Sat?
Sounds like a meet up in Twizel on Sunday morning for the ride to Cook will be the plan
ANd Rashika,Jan/woodybee says hi and is planning on going on her new trumpy and is trying to get a couple of other Trumpy riders from Dn interested. She doesn't seem to have access to computer at the moment so you probably won't see anything here from her.

So what's your relative's name? We lived in Twizel for 15 years and it's the sort of place where everyone knows everyone.

On the phone to Woodybee this afternoon,(well, o.k. YESTERDAY afternoon) she had been on a decent ride on her Trumpy through back roads to Waihola and is in love with her bike, says she can't wait to show it to us all at Twizel.

cool!! cant wait to see it

Tell ya what I'm really looking forward to the rallys starting this summer.
Feeling a whole lot more comfy on my bike now and it'll be nice to relax a little bit more and enjoy the ride without feeling completely nervous about dropping it all the time.

    Accomodation options

OK guys I have talked with my contact and there are 3 options I need feedback on.
    1) Shearers quarters about 17km towards Omamrama from Otematata. This one has a bunkhouse which is semi partitioned (walls don't go right to the ceiling) and sleeps 7 plus a cookhouse which also has 2 beds. Both blocks have toilets and showers but the two blocks are about 50m apart.

    2) Shearers quarters on the other station managed by the same manager and 6km the other side of Otematata. This one is much newer and flasher, sleeps about 20 in separate bunkrooms with 2 beds in each. Good showers etc.

Both these places have all the cutlery, plates, cooking gear needed.
The cost will be a decent size box of beer for the manager

    3) there are a couple of backpackers options in Otematata, close to the pub etc but obviously at some (smallish) cost.

Please let me know preferred options so I can get back to the manager and get our names down on it if we want it.
    Skyrider have you booked anything?

17km was what he told me and only 6km for the other property which he said was a lot closer to Otematata.??? Only a couple of minutes anyway.
