    Whats my FZR1000 worth?

Righto, I'm toying with the idea of selling my FZR1000 and buying a pre82 bike and a cheap dual purpose machine of some sort. I strongly suspect that I wouldn't get enough out of the FZR to make it worthwhile, but here goes.

    Its a 1989 Yamaha FZR1000.
    • 50summat km
    • First of the EXUP models
    • Metzeller Racetech K1 front and K2 rear, 3x 6 lap races at Ruapuna on these
    • Street legal braided lines up front and near new pads
    • Forks were rebuilt by DAS about 6 months ago
    • Had a full service less than 1,000km ago (oil, filter, air filter cleaned, carbs cleaned and balanced, new inlet rubbers, valve clearances done etc)
    • BMC airfilter
    • Omega free flow polished stainless exhaust (2.5" straight through- lovely deep sound)
    • New bushes in the EXUP valve not so long ago
    • Dynoed at 125hp at wheel less than 5000k ago. At the time it had a low RPM miss which wasn't cured. This was later found to be the perished inlet rubbers. So it made 125hp with perished inlet rubbers. I have the graph, and also the original graph from Red Baron showing 128hp when it had 27,500km on the clock (when I bought it).
    • Heated grips
    • Scottoiler

Think thats about it. See my profile for a pic (without the new pipe) So whats it worth? Cue smart arsed remarks from KB members with handles starting with D, K and R

I would say about $3000 privately maybe abit more , wouldn't like to see what a shop would offer tho . Had the First 87 FZ1000 non EXUP was a great bike very basic but alot of fun , All the best with ya sale your bike looks to be a tidy one too .

Yeah its a great bike. Power wheelies from 80k up in first (remember its lifting a fair old weight to do that), has 17" wheels so will take modern rubber, which none of the other Jap open class bikes did at the time. It's sure as hell not worth selling it for $3k, shit the tune up and Racetechs alone cost over $1k.

Yeah I would've thought it was worth at least 5K Tony. The FZR was the open-class bike of the day, and yours is in good condition. Selling it for $3000 would be a crime.

Well whoever got it would be pretty bloody happy.
I wish we had the pre89 class down here, she'd be a perfect bike for that.

I am thinking of selling mine too. fzr1000 92 upside down forks etc. 20k on clocks. Totally standard. Scuff marks on right hand side. What do you reckon?

COuld fix the fairing but is still totally functional. Worth fixing?
