in the 80s,me and a few mates use to bus into town from mangere,on a Friday nite,out for a good time,you know city lights,Baskers,freaky people,glue sniffers,you name it.we use to drink whisky in the uni gardens,but we were never shit steering,causing trouble.because the cops were a lot tougher back then, i believe anyway.but there woz a bit of racial tension back then between p.i's and maori.but pakeha people i think had it worse with Maori and p.i's.they saw them as easy targets,people who were easy to beat on,or to get money out of. i mean no disrespect here, dont get me wrong now?this is wot i saw back in the 80s.i think today even,Racisiam is still around.i hope you heal up quickly mate,and go after these fellas.............

Just as a sidenote, a good chunk of the maoris I work with hate PI's. Its like I said, everyones a bit racist too some degree.. The maoris hate all the PI's, the samoans hate the tongans who hate the cook islanders who hate the fijians etc etc..Anyone else remember the samoan vs tongan machete wars insouth auckland years ago? Or the Samoan somali fights of more modern days? Arabs hate israelis, indians hate pakistanis, chinese hate japanese and so on and so on.. All stereotypes and there are always exceptions, but its the way the world goes around.

Yes some islanders are fine people, yes some non islanders are violent wankers, but on the whole there seems to be a disturbing trend for young male islanders living in NZ to be violent wankers, in far greater numbers than their demographic should represent, and thats why the stereotype is that all PI's are trouble causing violent wanks. I'd say send all the PI's home, but that would deprive me of the comic genius that is the naked samoans (esp Oscar and David).. Woe is me!

All it would take to sort this crap out is a bit of determination from management and some ingenuity. Bring in say 40 bait cars into auckland and actually have the cops monitor them. Put them in the right places, and you can guarantee they will be nicked or broken into within a week, maybe sometimes within hours. Have cops monitoring certain pub carparks on nights like St Pats, and New Years eve.

Have you ANY idea how many cops that an operation involving 40 'bait' cars would require??????

That was an idea that I chucked together in 30 seconds. What I was looking for was for some others to come up with ideas. The scale and details of which aren't always immediately perfect. You're showing as much initiative and determination as current police management.

My point was, that although I know the force in auckland currently isn't capable of it, but rather the benefits of such a programme would be huge.

Please, show some inititative and drive, and come up with your own plans too and pitch them to your bosses. Cause currently (at least the last few years) police management seems interested in only high profile crime that will get them "big ups" from the media, and issuing speeding tickets.
