More tyre talk 180 vs 190

Sorry to start ANOTHER tyre thread......

Im due for a rear tyre on my gsxr1000
At the moment im running 180 wide rubber, as i understand it the 180 turn in is quicker(than the 190 wide), am i correct?
Im interested to hear from people who have tryd the 180 and the 190
What are the differences you noticed?

Went from a 190 BT014 to a 180 PP and definitely noticed the difference in turn in, before that I had used a 190 Diablo as well but it was just shit.

Now running a 190/55 Supercorsa Pro and it still drops in quickly due to the steep profile of the tyre.

I've been told if you stick 190/55 on instead of the 190/50 you should get a similar turn in as the 180/50.

I'm happy with the 190/55 as I was with the 180/50 PP.

Have had both sizes including what Dover mentioned,190/55's, and personaly if I could I'd stick to the 190/55's but due to Pilots not being available in that size yet I'm staying with the 190/50.
Sure it doesn't turn in as fast as the 180's but that is an easy fix by adjusting your setup.
I also found that I ran out of rubber with the 180's...keept riding off the side of my tyre which cause some seriously freaky situations man!

OKDOK, if you just want to ride it on the road and have easy turn in get the 180.
If you are racing and want the fastest lap time, get the 190.
Muscle and or bike set up can overcome slower turn in. There is no compensating for less grip from a 180 over a 190 when it comes to lap times. End of story.

had a 190 on the 999 and changed (under advise ) to a 180, to be honest cant see what the fuss is about. Will be going back to OEM fitment next time.

Had a 180 on my Thou, it worked fine, twas a Supercorsa pro, but kept riding off the edges.
Went to Pilot Powers and a 190 rear and hardly noticed much difference although the weather has been a bit shit and my riding has been a little slower around corners. If you are really weedy then get the 180 Otherwise be a man and muscle the 190 around.

OK, so this is probably a dumb question but why would you run over the edge of a 180 rather than a 190? I would've thought that the width doesn't effect max lean angle, it's the profile that dictates the amount of lean available???

I've gone from the OEM 190 to a Diablo 180 on the Gixer and have noticed the quicker turn in, but in saying that I'm too slow to have explored the very edges of the tyres.

As far as i understand there is a stepper angle towards the outside of the tyre on the wider rubber as its "pulling in" to fit the rim.....

Had a Metzeler sportec190/55 on the VTR loved it, It felt like it raised the
back of the bike by a couple of mill. when sitting on the bike I could just get my feet on the ground, which seam to make it turn in better.
I,m back on Roadtec 180 now, but they seam just as good.and last longer too.
