    Back to School

Since I have so many mates in here who I loose touch with when my online acitvity becomes minimal/nil due to lack of time, I do these little updates about my life to let everyone know what I'm up to. So read on if interested, or not.

As of Monday this week which was the 17th of July, 2006 I left my full time job and started Uni! Pretty exciting really, because it's been about 4 years since I was last studying anything.

After going through a few options, I thought something to do with desgine and being creative was definetly where I wanted to head. So I ended up with starting a course in Certificate in Computer Graphic Desgine. This will last for about 6 months. Then I would like to progress on to doing the 4 year degree which starts from about February 2007.

So far, I am very happy with myself. This is the reason why I stopped racing and the reason why I didn't choose an alternative lifestyle to pursue other things in life. I must say that I am pretty happy with my choice so far. I am finally doing what I am really interested in.

I've been in the work force for the past 4 years and I came to the conclusion that I am pretty good with people. I can get by in life comfertably and I can adapt to most situations and conditions quiet well. So finding means to earn a living is fairly simple to me, here in New Zealand. However, we work for most of our lives. I mean if we divide the different proportion of time we spend on the different things. Work will take up a huge chunk for most of us. So I figured, why does work have to feel like work? Why should it just be a job to make money? I don't want just that... I want to enjoy this major part of my life by doing something that I'd really love as a job!

I am not exactly sure where I will be in 5 years time, but if I get to make my own art and make a living out of it. I'll be stoked!

P.S. I've never seen this many hot chix in one place. It's GREAT!!

Well done. Gotta follow your dream (or get one to follow). Too many people get to the end of their lives with regrets over what they 'should have' done, esp if they've ignored their instincts "cos it's safer"
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Brave move man, I did the same thing after working for Fletcher Construction for 4 years. I'm about halfway through my Bachelor of Science specialising in Electronics and Computing, but have put it on hold to see if I can get enough money to race supersports in the next year or so.

Best of luck to you. And yeah if you are doing the artsy papers, then you'll be swamped with chicks. Pity I was just doing Maths Physics and Compsci papers, I was one of few white guys (in most classes), and even fewer hot chicks. I might go back in a few years.

Do what you like, but like what you do. 10 points for you.

Design Schools chicks are mental, man.

Plenty of directions to go once you get through the degree, plus the courses are generally interesting and challenging.

    Good choice. Have fun.

I've heard the best classes for male/female ratio are nursing and teaching...

Good on ya Sudeep. After spending about 6 years travelling the world as a ski patroller, outdoor education instructor etc and living the lifestyle, I finally realised that i was most happy when doing something that challenged me mentally as well, I went back to school, got a couple of degrees, got a job that pays well and can now enjoy all the activities that I used to do but with a degree of luxury thrown in (i.e. I can afford it).

It's worth the long haul in the end.
