    Dropped!

Hi all. I had my first drop today. Was going around the roundabout at the bottom of Astley ave, was a fair bit leaned over i guess, and I suddenly lost grip on the front tyre, probably because of oil or something. Long story short I lowsided and found myself on my ass. The bike and me are mostly alright.

Anyway, I was wondering about this after. I just got my bike about 2 months ago, and I already had my first drop. I've heard people say that everyone drops their first bike.

So, do you reckon it's better to have dropped and walked away, or never to have dropped at all?
I think I've learned from the fall, and it wasn't too bad, other than fixing those scratches on the cibby so I'm looking at it as (kind of) a good thing.

Best thing that ever happened to me as a rider was having an off.
Gave me a reality check I will never forget.
So in my opinion be grateful that you've got your first out of the way and that you and your machine are relatively unscathed....but hey,it still sucks eh mate!

I've been riding for 3 months and have had 2 drops so far. First one coz of a bad driver that didn't understand the give way rule. second one for trying to go round a corner in the middle of a rain storm. Important thing here is get back on ASAP otherwise you could lose confidence from being off the bike too long. I wish I hadn't dropped my bike but shit happens and it's not damaged as both accidents were in slow moving traffic.
If you can show me someone who never made a mistake I'll show you someone who never learned anything.

It took me a while to have my first bin, only a month ago actually, but yeah, learn from the mistake, as with me, too fast into sunstrike...missed the corner all together . Learn and move on, and remember that you do not always get away so lucky, rather learn on a crash that didn't hurt too much than one that leaves you with months of rehab!

Same, was my 4th bike, after years of riding (and a 10 year break), and was only 2 weeks ago, on my first KB ride.

    It sucked!

But like you, un hurt, bike relatively unscathed (you need to look hard to see the damage, but it is there, my poor baby!).

So, hopefully, you learn, and ride on. I learnt, unfortunately I already knew the leason, but for some reason thought physics and a truck could not compete with me and my bike....WRONG!

Ive been riding for almost 2 months...dropped mine on the weekend for the first time.

Was i hit by some idiot in a cage??
Was i getting the knee down whilst doing 100km/hr round a 35k bend??!!
Or was I 2 wheel drifting in torrential rain?!?!?!!!!

    NO!!!

I dropped the bike in a bloody service station after not putting down the stand properly.

Only damage was a couple of cracks on the opposite side of a fibreglass reinforcing job i did the previous weekend....ah well...some people are born to fibreglass i guess

I did exactly the same thing on saturday. Was pretty pissed at myself. But no use crying over spilt milk. Broke the screen and top fairing.
