good point spud. the italicised word GUESS shows the amatuerness of the website writer.

where is the bit about being able to turn the 'fastest' off? or that once locked the 'fastest' disappears? or that you can't actually lock the 'fastest' unless it is also the 'strongest'.

was good for a laugh though

Meh, very true, thought that was screaming obvious stuff - sort of like 'you have to put your feet down when you stop your bike' stuff - but then realised as per your post that not everybody has used the things and knows how they work.

Looked at the site, (the one on Police Radar) looks like a pretty clued-up 12 year old who just completed 'science 101' did it.

Well spudchuka I can only agree with your coments re the issuing of tickets, I will ony issue when I am 100% sure as I see no point in issuing a dodgy ticket-i guess due to the current poor publicity that the police are getting any enforcement is seen as revenue gathering

Took a copy of that article to work tonight, the boys just laughed and reckon it must have been done by a politician because it was full of half truths and was misleading.

Take it with a grain of salt.

    Roadside 'discussion' tonight:

Him "So how do you know it was my car doing that speed?"

Me "Yours was the only car on the road sir" (on a straight about 1km long)

Him "Well... there could have been one behind me!"

Me "I cerainly didn't notice any other vehicle"

Him "Well he might have stopped behind me out of sight from you"

    WTF? :spudwhat:

Many thanks for the use of the word 'Sunshine'...really makes me feel valued and warm inside - also goes some way in my mind at least of redressing the stereotypical imbalance created by spudchucka! I was just trying to add a bit of levity to the discussion. I am fully aware that there are actually no quotas per se but that there are revenue targets within the police force and that there are various vehicles of revenue made available to each force to reach these targets of which speeding tickets are only one. However the speeding tickets are the ones in the eyes of the media currently and therefore were amusing to pass comment on. Since you felt the need to call me 'Sunshine' I can only assume that the sweeping comment I made has offended you..in that case I am sorry - it was not my intention to cause offence.

Hey, don't panic about the 'sunshine thing, just me being flippant and adding a touch of levity to the whole affair!!

And to reiterate: There are no 'revenue' targets: there ARE contact targets (ergo a quota) but there are NO monetary value required on them.

If you read some of my earlier posts you will see that quite a few of MY ticket generate no revenue whatsoever, although obviously the majority do but I din't go out there to see how many I can get.

In the last ten days I have issued FIVE, two of which were 'compliance' i.e. non-revenue gathering. (As long as the person fixes the fault on thier vehicle).

They don't even cover me wages.

I guess I'll get sacked for not meeting my quota - then all the grateful public will clamour to support myself and my family for being so lenient and thumbing my nose at the bosses. (WINJA?)
    Yeah right!!

My tally for the year so far is less than 40, (I'm waiting for the boss to call me into the office for a chat).

I've done about 12 TON's though, mostly EBA's and a few careless, hopefully that'll keep them from getting up me too hard.

Yeah get a few TONS too (EBAs mainly), last night was an older chap, all over the road, he'd had a couple (FAIL YOUTH) and dog-tired so FARMED him, he was o.k. with that.

How about that "Cousin It" looking sheila on the news recently, she had a blood reading of over 400. The court should have ordered her body donated to science because all things considered she should have been dead!

I bet it's not very often that a drunk gets told: "Sorry, you've blown the machine off the scale, we'll have to ask you for a blood sample"

And 'she' didn't think she had an alcohol problem!!
