Thyat's the law here as I understand it. The registered owner is liable for the offence unless he/she can prove that someone else was driving/riding at the time.

Nice dredge - Police "performance targets" are nothing new.

In some lights, I see the point. In theory, if you have no quota, a cop could head down to the local park and have a snooze in his car all afternoon. You have to prove he's doing something.

It just so happens that you can't accept a Plod saying "well, I solved 75% of that home invasion, I'll finish it off tomorrow" - because it's too hard to prove.

Of course, that's only in some lights. In other lights, they're money grabbing bastards who sit on a perfectly safe bit of road (or the bottom of a hill) to ping someone who has crept over the limit.

I do like the "must catch a drink driver every X hours" - I wonder if they'll make people drink if they're below target.

Would this be an admission then that Police Officers are not trust worthy?

The quota thing sucks big time that isn't policing that is money making

But as for the penalties I was pinged last year in Japan , try

1500 dollars a month loss of licence and a driver education course ( one day ) oh and of course points 6 of me 12

Thank FK they never really bother,,,,,,,,,, but when they do !!!

A hell of a dredge. I really like it how people completely ignored the fact the cops are being ORDERED to do it, and even they were'nt happy with it, yet still called them pigs and scum for it. Fucken hell.

    Very old comments now though!

I ca'nt believe people over the age of 18 are still so immature as to hate cops and call them pigs and think they're scum......if you are a crimminal then it kinda goes with the territory... (the real scum here/why do'nt we call crimminals pigs?!)

Actually, here's a thought, why do some immature/have'nt grown up idots call those that enforce the law pigs, how did the crimminals they apprehend for us miss out on the more appropriate name? Instead they're called the 'innocent'

Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.

It's amazing speed cameras in NZ don't yet generate points, they certainly do over here.......

An 'adventure bike'? Is that like Steve Irwin's missus?
