Bullied by another Biker (coz of my L plate?)

Last Wednesday I was riding home from Work along the Great South Road - so far so good. Now picture this - I'm in the inside lane and have a long row of traffic cones to my left coz they're doing roadworks on the section before you get to Blue Wing Honda and I can see this guy on an off road motorbike riding right up my ass to my left as if he's going to pass me on the inside - I hold my position to see what he does - he closes the gap so his right handlebar is nearly touching my back - now all this time there is loads of space on my right but it's as if he's trying to bully me - so I own the space and move to my left to shut this move down and the guy drops back, overtakes properly and then takes the next right turn (so he should have been in the right hand lane all along!). WTF was that all about?
Please respect L plated riders - it's bad enough worrying about cages without other bikes trying to show you how much of a wanker they've become. And remember that not all learners are teenagers that think this sort of shit is cool - some of us old farts will bite back.
    'nuff said.

thats just not cool...an advantage of having a 2 smoker which smokes more than a regular 2 smoker should is that when boy racers or anyone else for that matter tries to bully you on the road i just pull in the clutch and blow the muffler out in their face...after a week of mostly low revs and idleing in town there's plenty of oil built up to mislead others that my bike has a built in smoke screen function for secret spy missions....or something of the like

i don't ride with my L plate anymore for that reason though because people just think it's funny to bully learners:eyeroll: the police haven't pulled me up yet and i don't think they'l kick much of a fuss if they did

You did the right thing. I gotta say, it's probably just an Auckland thing though...

Are you sure he was "next" to you. Many riders will ride "in your mirrors" so you know where they are all the time. If you sit in the right hand side of the lane they will be in your left hand mirror, and vise versa.

    A bit of topic but...
Wish I could say that worked for me... My bike tends to go quite "gluggy" when its idling so when Im sitting at the lights I have to give it a few handfuls of revs. I had filtered up to the front of the lights just the other day and was sitting there revving it a wee bit when the boy racers behind me started revving their POS boy racer car up to. I didnt think anything of it until I went to take of and these twats came racing up to me and then cut right in front of me without indicating so I blast my air horn and they start beebing their horn and I realised that they were just trying to harrass me so I just let them go. Got to the next set of lights and filtered straight passed them through the long que to the front cause I was really worried that they were gonna do something dumb. Im on a restricted licence so no L plate, they may have been worse if I had had one on though... Bet they would've felt stoopid if they knew I was a chick, lol!

Nothing to do with the L plate. He's just a dipshit.

Absolutely - I could see the guy out of the corner of my eye without the aid of the mirror. The road was empty around us at the time - 2 lanes available - for reasons best known to himself he chose to ride at my left shoulder. Just hoped he might be a KBer and could explain his reasons to me over a pint.

Yeah I agree that it's hard enough while you're learning to ride to concentrate and watch out for everything that's going on around you let alone some dip stick rider who "thinks" he's better than you to hassle you while your learning....HELLO there's a reason the 'L' plate is there. What a dumb ass

Be good if he could explain his actions here...
