Cafe Ride Sun 13/6 Palm Nth

Central Districts Motorcycle Touring Club is having a casual Cafe ride on Sunday June 13 meeting 1pm at BP Metro Palmerston North. A good chance for a Sunday afternoon ride to Waterfords Cafe at Ruamai. Were catering for the casual riders and those who want to play a little with a social gathering at the end.

All KB'ers and motorcyclists are welcome along. Come along meet the club and fellow bikers from the area. A good oportunity for a casual country ride followed by a refreshing stop at the end with good opportunity to mingle and swop stories.

Hope to see as many of ya as possible next Sunday. Feel free to spread the word.

Pardon my ignorance, but where the f**k is Ruamai?

Depending on where it is, and depending on the weather, I (and Hamish, even though he doesn't know it yet) would be keen to come along.

Busted: you and I could discuss who's going to be carrying Marknz's bags etc etc etc!!!

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

Head to Ashhurst from Palmy North, go through Ashhurst and take the Pohangina Road. Waterfords Cafe is about 10kms out of Ashhurst.

Thats the straight through approach. I have a bit of a senic route in mind ... bit of a needless loop really.

Now about this bag carrying LB ... oh and the other issues ...

Would that be via Kimbolton, Apiti and back down the Pohangina Valley.

Is Pilgrim's Rest still open on that road? - we used to go there with Ulysses a bit and occasionally to Waterford.

The attached pics were at the Waterford in 1999 - nice spot.

That would probably be our normal appraoch. But were tailoring (or at least trying to) this ride to suit those that wouldnt normaly ride in a group or with a club. So were trying to make it as least intimidating as possible.

As far as I know Pilgrims rest is still there ... must admit havent been that way for a while. Usually stop at the Kimbolton General store! Watefords is a good spot on a nice day ... good views from the deck at the back.

Probably only bout a 40 min jaunt with a couple of nice country roads. Its getting cold and dark quick these days so no point riding for too long in the arvo ... plus it interrupts the "socialising". If it all goes well we'll do some more and make them a bit longer aswell.

    Hopefully see ya there Hooks

Ah - the Waterford - I'd not heard of it until last week when I accosted two blokes I'd never seen in my life before who were looking at a bike in one of the bike parks in Wgtn. Turns out they're bike guys, so I got chatting to them (as you do) and they were telling me about the Waterford - couldn't speak highly enough of it. I gave them my email address but I haven't heard from them. I must have scared them off!! Anyway, I digress.

At this time of year it would be a bit far for me to come back home afterwards - I don't like riding in the dark and cold. However, if you guys are going to be doing this in summer, please post here and I'd be really keen to join in.

Busted, we'll have to save our discussion till later! (I was supposed to be seeing Marknz last night but he didn't show - I was going to remind him of the certain "advantages" I would have as the bag carrier )
