    Hi everybody (mansell)

Found this site a while ago and thought it was time to sign up, and introduce myself. (It would be rude not to)

Been riding for 27 years now and can't remember a time when there wasn't a bike in the shed. I am in the process of rebuilding my old CX500 for about the fourth time. I've owned it for 8 years and it has been around the country 5-6 times since then. With this bike being down fortunately I ahve the wife's SRV250 to ride and keep up the practise. Only managed one short trip this year Timaru to Cromwell for a funeral and that was on the 250. Just got the CX's motor running and hopefully she will be ready to go in the spring.

We moved to Timaru in January so I now have more road to explore. Some of the back country roads around here are worth the time to find.

Instent green geps for having a CX500 mate welcome to KB, now tell me why the hell does the CX need 'another' rebuild... the bloody things last forever (unless its a Euro with auto cam chain tens)
I hotted one up and rang the snot out of it for 10yrs and it never missed a beat, I did have to replace the rear engine cassing tho after warping it due to riding from Mersision to CHch with no water in it (water pump seal shat its self) at speeds off 160kph.
Post a pic up of your ugley duckling
    cheers DD

Blew the oil breather about 5 years ago while commuting in auckland and decided to replace engine with one sitting around the garage. The chap who rebuilt the other engine didn't do a good job on it, hence another rebuild. Then it started leaking about the rear plate and blew two sets of head gaskets. I have also had to replce the stators on both motors and getting them rewoumd was a bloody mission. Ayway I'm back to the original motor but in the move threw away most of my spares so had to marry both engines together. She's running now but I need to clean the fuel system out completely. Unfortunately the house we're in until the end of august doesn't really have the room to work on bikes so I am waiting until we move to the new place (double garage and a bar) to finish.
    Thanks for the welcome

A good bump Rashika, 6 posts was a pretty poor welcome for KB standards!

So, Hi Dr Nick! I mean, Hi Mansell. Welcome to the site, and I'm sure you'll have no problems finding some good roads around Timaru. Watch the ice though!

    Mmmmm, bar........

Welcome aboard. The Magpie Madness rally is just down the road from you at Winchester on November 24, 25, 26. I'll be there, might see you there?

Why? The one I've got has apperently clocked up 200,000 odd kms and is still going.

Welcome to Kb Mansell. Nice to see another CX, another "classic" japper no less according to current mags, owner at KB.

I started a thread here for CX related stuff, ended up in General Bike Ravings for some reason - http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...73710#poststop
