pretty unimaginative. i'm more a fan of the cloud surfing/aeros etc. i would have been more impressed if they were upside down at 30 ft

I guess there's not much chance of getting to fly jets without being part of a foreign air force though :/

lol, yes - i was a bit wtf too. Dude, your 40ft off the ground at 400+kts and you dont know where you are?

The one i liked best is when there are two lead aircraft that buzz 'low' through an airbase, and then shortly after another follows and looks like his wings are level with the fence which is probably 3-4ft high.

Looks like fun. In a previous I used to fly turboprops low level over the sea and land, day and night looking for bad guys. That also had its exciting moments and often we just navigated with only a map on our knees.

Got this pic from the Pensacola News journal. Taken at an airshow two weeks ago. They don't get much closer than that

one of the guys at work is just heading off to adelaide to work on the dash 8 and other coastal fleet a/c - isn't that what you used to fly? he's looking at good money (he's a LAME spook) and a 3 year contract. the flying looks like fun!

I flew for National Air support contracted to coastwatch. I was the Dash 8 Fleet manager based in Darwin. The aircraft in Adelaide is the LAD (Laser Depth thingy) and belongs to the same company. Its a cruisey number in ADL that has a couple of ex surveillance pilots driving it. The surveillance flying was a real blast and one of the more interesting 18 months in my career.
