I think I'll only have three more race meetings on the 250, going to learn to ride that 600 I just got hold of. Hopefully I'll have paid my parents back for some of it by the end of the year too.

Oh yeah, I'm taking up bicycle couriering as of Monday for Deadline Express. Should keep me fit as a fiddle, and I think I could make a reasonable buck doing it too. Not to mention having to fight off the ladies as I romp around in my skintight bike shorts
I have only crashed a motorbike 3 times and 2 of them were on the track. Like HDTboy said scooters dont count....
When can you get your full dude?
You earn ok money just need to keep doing it every day you should compare the amount you make to rayzor would be intresting.

I think I have done a total of around 5,000kms on motorbikes.
Shouldnt need to replace them they might just need to be serviced. HDTboy is the guy to ask about that, hes the king of the cbr250.

I think I've done close to 25,000k's on CBR250's. And about 10,000 on a Pepsi Racing Replica RGV250, mostly commuting, but I've started racing CBR250's this year.

Never had to replace carbs, cause I've never broken them. Have done a couple of carb rebuilds on the CBR's because both were imported, and had dried petrol in them which blocked the needle jets. Although if your carbs are running rich, which it sounds like they might be, then I'm wondering if someone has modified them to run with an aftermarket foam filter and a racing pipe. You should ask the mechanic who worked on it why he thinks they need replacing? Are they broken in some way? If not, then you should just look at putting them back to standard settings as per a workshop manual. One option might be to try running it with no filter for one run to see if it puts out really good power, or if it starts spluttering, then it's not tuned for it... ah bugger it. I could talk all day.

Tex.... I could have got my full a while ago, just can't be bothered right now. I'll do it when I can afford to upgrade. Which might be a while. I don't really think I need anything more than the CBR250 for the road, but it would be good to have a CBR600 for the road so that I get more used to riding it so that it helps me race on one.

And yeah, HDTboy is the one to talk to, he taught me how to adjust valve clearances, and has modified carbs on a CBR250 before.

cheers guys...only been riding for 2months so trying to learn as much as possible

texmo: wat?!?!?only 5000k's and you're already getting the bike over like this??

vtec: cheers again...i take it carbs are pretty similar between models of bikes?? eg cbr/zxr. but thanks for the info

yea i thought it would've just been in need of a clean and tune...they didnt even open her up to have a look...just pretty much said "nah shes fucked, giv me $" so they dont actually know if anythings broken or not.

Meh I dont really care either way to be honest. Racing is fun but not worth the $$$ to me atm with my income. I want to cruse for the rest of the year untill I can get my full then get a srad750 or tl1000s.
