I like 'em tho they are not one of my favourite bands. They are very good at what they do, and I like the fact that they are so very different to most of the crap that is out there these days.

I find their 'Lord of the Flies' image and violent angry music very cathartic.

I saw Slipknot for the first time at the BDO two years ago. Was a wicked show.

on a related note there's a very interesting interview with Corey Taylor here:]

Nice work on the Opeth O as your avatar, Slash. I'm listening to Ghost Reveries now. Now that's a band!

Ya know, I actively disliked Slipknot a few years ago, until what typically happens with people and bands happenned to me.....

People will usually start liking a band that they never thought they would like because something like one of the following occurs:

    1. they hear a song they DO like and go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they have at least one good song, let's see if there are any more"
    2. they see the band live, maybe as support for the band they paid to see, or by chance at a venue or whatever, and go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they ROCK live, perhaps they just haven't translated well onto recording yet"
    3. they read/see/hear background info about the band, and maybe a cause that the band helps or a viewpoint/philosophy of the band or some members speaks to them, and they go "wow maybe I should actually give this band a chance - they share my views/philosophies/shoe size"

For me, I heard that one song that you find you do like, (didn't even realise it was Slipknot at the time) and which prompted me to go looking for more. I found that the songs that other people had played me just happenned to all be the songs i didn't like - and I still don't like some songs, but hey, that's OK!

hXc is spot on with comments on Joey and Corey, those 2 guys are the band for me. Mr scary iron mask guitarist guy seems very proficient (hey, I'm a drummer, what do I know!) but the others seem like filler.

I saw them at the BDO, they kicked ASS. You have to be fairly respected to get the entire floor of ericcson stadium in front of the stage down on the ground on command....

Another one is the Green Day DVD that came out recently - I kinda liked Green Day before seeing that DVD, but maaaaate I would love to see them live after seeing the show they are capable of!

Lordy, the Finnish band that won the Eurovision Song Contest did a good job of exposing these "theme bands" as the talent free marketing puppets they are
