Also when buying used things, you tend to grab a good deal when you see one even though you may not have been looking for that exact same thing.

Lexus are a standalone car company and have nothing to do with Toyota, the car was developed and produced independent of Toyota and has it's own seperate dealer and service network.Lexus dealers are not Toyoata dealers.

Well, that was the blurb when the Lexus came out - now you wouldn't be suggesting that Toyota would lie to the public? no,not possible.Guess they must be totaly different then eh?

The Toyota Chaser, Aristo, Soarer (SC300, SC400), Altezza (IS200), Land Cruiser (LX450/470?) et al are the names used in the Japan domestic market. In other countries they *may* be available under the badge of Lexus - the Lexus brand/badge was orignally solely for US market models. Lexus do not have entirely nothing to do with Toyota - quite the opposite - Many (if not all) of the models have the same chassis, same engines, and differ only in interiors/styling and possibly some panels/skirts/spoilers.

Yeah well their burb was bullshit,Lexus IS200 = Toyota Altezza, same body different trim and engine, both engines made by Toyota, and in Chch Toyota and Lexus even share the same building

It is possible to get good power out of the Lexus/Toyota V8,the same mods as any other motor apply, just aftermarket bits aren't easy to come by.
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

'92 Lexus SC400 V8 should do the trick. Heaps of room for a two door, tons of grunt, good handling for a big marshmallow, lots of cow skin amd fake wood and it screams "PIMP DRIVING!" Perfect for the Trash Man.
Not as thirsty as you'd expect either, thank Christ.
Nice choice of vehicle WT, looks good. I had a mate who trained as a Lexus mechanic when they were first introduced into NZ - he raved on about how good they were...and pricey!!

Oh No!!! so you guys are saying that Lexus are really Toyotas and Toyota have been lying to the public - shock horror! that's really bad news coming from such a major motor company and I'm staggered they would do such a thing.

Guess I better not buy any Jap cars - I'll get a totaly Australian designed and built one - maybe a Holden Vectra, the Aussies are at least honest eh?

lol you can't be serious Motu!!

The Holden Vectra is an Opel (German)

Last time I was in Aussie the Holden Commodore was also sold as the Toyota Lexcen!

As for Mazda, they are owned by Ford (US)
Nissan is owned by Renault (France)
and Mitsubishi is mostly owned by Chrysler-Benz (US/German)
Plenty of Toyotas are designed and manufactured in America. Toyota and Chevrolet both market the same car (Cavalier) in different markets under their own brand
The Monaro is called a Pontiac GTO in the states (good idea).

And even european manufacturers are known to use Chinese and Korean parts in their vehicles too.

brand loyalty based on where you think a car is made is a pretty dodgy one now
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Hmmm. My stacker has:

    Linkin Park - Meteora
    Jane's Addiction - Strays
    Disturbed - Believe
    Radiohead - The Bends
    Sublime - Sublime
    The Beatles - Revolver
