At home I've made a bit of a list of potential trips I'd like to have a got at some time but they are longer summer trips though - like circumnavigating Mt Hutt on the gravel roads then into the Ashburton lakes where there are some tracks. Will bring some maps next trips to show you all.
I agree with you on the looking around thing. The Waimak is good, provides a challenge, and is close to home, but it's nice to explore new areas too. Mt Hutt and Ashburton lakes sound good.
I reckon we should all come up with a couple of areas that we want to have look at. That should give us a bunch of places to explore over the coming Spring, Summer and we'll all get to see the areas we've been curious about with the confidence of being part of a group. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm keener to venture further off the beaten track when there's someone around to assist if get in the shit. I'm also keen to do an overnighter somewhere too - not stay in a cabin, but take everything with me and camp in the middle of nowhere.
I'm hearing you with this one. Righty-O peeps, homework for this month is to come up with some places to go riding during spring and summer.
The overnighter sounds like a good idea as well.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
