Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
Coffee is gooooood though!![]()
A coffee after 2 hours of RMXing would be sweeeeet!![]()
I was going to do some DH runs down Worsleys on Sunday, but spent too much time welding stuff and didnt get organised in time. So yeah be carefull up there, the 4WD boys are dodgy enough with bikes coming down from where they can see them, let alone bikes coming past from behind!![]()
Cheers Lemans, I dont want to be the fly in the ointment as it were!
Probably my next dirtbike will be rego'd, just for that reason.![]()
I got home, cleaned myself up, had some dinner and then promptly fell asleep watching tv. Woke up at 9:00pm and went to bed.Tired? Oh yes. Worth it? Better believe it. Haven't had that much fun on a bike for a long time.
You're not going to mention how you tried to wash your jeans? No late night for last night, the GS isn't going to be cleaned for a little while yet. Who needs a clean bike?
Yeah, what's the deal with all the crashing FQ? You fell off more than I did...
Steep learning curve for sure R, enjoyed every second of it. I've seen some dodgy characters before but you take cake
I'm a glutten for punishment - I'll be back
You're too kind. Yep, there'll be a next time.
Love to have a copy of the video. Look at the grin on SDU's face, just wait till its moving, great stuff.
Just to sum up, thanks for all the feedback on Sunday, top effort. A special thanks to lemans for all the work he put into the day and helping me out, much appreciated.![]()
I normally drink tea TA, it's Green Meanie's fault and made it a habit for me to drink coffee on a ride as he gets a nasty twitch.
And the ride sounds good.
There is a reason for that.
Like you are not meant to ride/drive it any more.
Yep the (strong) coffee's good to keep the edge, it's that or a bottle of V, when you are getting tired.
And let me know when you fix that pipe and we'll go for a blast.
It'd good to hear that you had fun and are keen to do it again.
And now we both have a better idea what the bike can do it will make it easier to plan the next one.![]()
Feel the fear and do it anyway

There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.
Glad to hear Mr S. enjoyed himself and appears to be very happy with his choice of bikes. Nice to meet the man too.
Indeed you would as unlike the Worseys Road track, i don't think your supposed to take vehicles on the Bridal Path.
B.P. is so well groomed I doubt it would have been all that much fun for you either.
I vote we go to Worseys and climb to the top and back a couple or 3 times for an hour, then either pack up and go somewhere else like the waimak or go home. Could be a quicky one morning or afternoon rather than a whole day thing if people are busy (sideways glance toward SDU)
I stand corrected but it is my understanding that Rapaki track, Huntsbury track and Worsley Road are all paper roads hence can ride them. I dont think the Bridle path falls into the same category. I think it is a track over private land so not necessarily allowed to ride it.
I just checked on Ecan's mapping site and there is a land parcel that "looks" very much like a road reserve along the Bridel Path, Rapakai, Huntsbury, Kenedys, and a couple of others from top to bottom of the hills. Couldnt figure out who owns the Bridle Path track though but if it is council then it is my understanding that you cannot actually be stoped as long as you are road reg. Given the typical users I'm not supprised that you got some funny looks though.
I'm keen for this. We could even do it while its still damp for additional entertainmentI suspect that Lemans might have something to say to you TA - metioning quickies and glancing sideways at SDU

Had my turn last time, & you were so good at it too.I think Lemans prefers to run classes

We've created a monster!
I'll be around soon neighbour- its a great day to take it for a test ride. You won't even notice the extra dirt. How much gas have you got in the tank- I've just emptied mine.![]()

Maybe I could squeeze a
in my lunch break.
I used to ride it years ago when it was still very rough and rarely used by walkers. I last rode it around 3 years ago, just after I got the DR, after about 17 years away from dirt bikes. It was for nostalgia as much as anything. I rode the Bridal Path, Rapaki Track, and Mt Vernon track that day. Yes, they were all easy, but I got it out of my system and haven't been back to them since.
Daylight saving starts in 4 1/2 weeks (01/10/06), so a weekday evening ride is another possibility.
Dunno what the legalities are, but they're all rideable if you don't get caught![]()

That reminds me of a day of downhill mountain biking at Treble Cone last summer, 4 DH riders go into Wanaka supermarket, all come out with 4 Redbulls and sugary pastries!![]()
All the sustenance you need for a day of bikes, speed, dirt, and jumps!![]()
The pipe should be fixed this week, and I'll put the pipe-guard thats been in the shed for 6 months on when its done!![]()
Yea we use to drink Red dog or was it Dog Eye or Red Eye (that's it, or something like that) and V back to back, and you were for 30 minutes a mess of trying to do 3 things at once and got nothing done.
After that you could leap tall buildings and were bullet proof.![]()
We did not need a sugar high as well.![]()
And how's that pipe coming along?
Feel the fear and do it anyway

Sugar........caffeine......pedal.......weeeee!!![]()
Pipe is getting there, have the ends plugged up, now I need to weld up all the pin holes and cracks before it'll hold pressure so i can heat the dents and pop goes the weazel!!![]()
So it should be done by Friday, dont want to be buggering with pipes on Saturday cos I really want to ride my DH bike, havent ridden it since I rebuilt it.![]()
Crikey... finally it's here....
The Kiwibiker attachment is DivX as usual. Quality not so good as usual, but may be prefered by dialup as only 5mb for a 3minute, 47second clip.
Or... the same video much clearer in DivX but 15mb in size. Best/clearest zoom to full screen one is HERE. (fixed)
Or... if you like the Youtube way of life there's a 5minute version here
Or finally the Google Video also the 5minute version here.
I had a little squiz via youtube - what a great opening shot
Downloading the video now to see the rest...
Very nice! Am gutted I couldnt have been there! Looked like there was some nice slushy gravel there to catch you out unawares on the return part of the trip!
Was the camera mounted on top of your helmet? You have a relatively steady head!
