    Honda Pal 1991 De restrictions.

Hi all, i've been looking around on this site for the past couple of days trying to find various information on scooters and other stuff.

I've got an old 91 Honda Pal 2 stroke moped that i'd like to de-restrict but not quite sure on how to do it.

I've searched around but have only found info on it for newer mopeds. I'm sure the washer in the variator will be in mine but i'm not quite sure about de restricting the exhaust. There are 2 little bolts that are welding onto the side of the exhaust and i've heard the you do something with these to possibly de-restrict. Is this true? I can post pictures of the engine if needed.

Any help of info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The term derestricted means that the rev limiter has been removed. The rev limiter is in the CDI unit which is responsible for ignition timing (ie, delayed ignition for powerloss to limit the engine speed.) Most scooters have a wire that you can cut to disable this thus allowing the engine to reach it's full potential RPM.

Afaik the older hondas are not limited that way but instead just use a small pulley and quite possibly a washer between the exhaust flange and the mount, probably wont hurt to check between the intake manifold flange and it's mount on both the engine side and the carburettor side aswell.

Look up scootling.co.nz for their parts... light weight rollers & highspeed pulley etc... They may even know about your scooter model too...
