Dannevirke - Sunday August 27th - Sugilites Excellent Adventures Series - Ride 1.

I'm running in the Team Richard Leong Racing/Hewitt's Motorcycles Kawasaki ZX10R and feel like some company, the more the merrier.

The meeting place will be Hewitt's Motorcycles, Main St Dannevirke at 12:15 to 12:30 pm.
Make sure you turn up with a full tank of gas, as petrol stations are rare things where we are going, as is traffic!
Also bring a full stomach as winter day rides are to short for multiple cafe stops.

I will supply a ride route map to one and all complete with merging points along the way. All sizes and types of bikes and rider skill levels are welcome. Just because I race does not mean it is going to be a MotoGP qualifying session!

Dannevirke is handily central to Hawkes Bay, Waiarapa and the Manawatu. I already have interested riders from Wellie on board too. This has great potential to be a classic ride folks!

The types of roads I like are corners, corners and more corners.
Do you like straights with the odd gentle bend? This will not be the ride for you. (look at my location)

If the weather looks shoddy, all bets are off.
I will make the final weather call at 8am on the day in this thread.

This will be the 1st in a series of Sugilite's Excellent Adventure series of rides I will be organizing in conjunction with other knowlegible and respected local riders from around the country over the upcoming months.

The ball is rolling huh? Lucky bugger you've got some great roads to meander over around Dannevirke spent a bit of time there based at Tamaki River Rd & got to venture around the surrounding countryside a bit plus all the good backroads between the gorge through to Wanganui.

Hope you have a good weekend for it

    Right you lot!
Above posts of support like T.W.R's are sweet as. (he is after all my Central South Island road ride consulatant!)

But any soft cocked, inverted nipple types who lamely post they cannot make it due to running out of panty liners, washing the pet dog, stubbed little toe, "insert lame excuse here" reason will be red repped by me, because at the end of the day It is a waste of good thread space in my opinion!

At the end of the day this thread is for people that just wanna ride, Yeah Baby!!!

I agree...I get tired of threads full of 'I wish I could come along but...'. Ill be there and am praying for good weather.

You know that some of these softcock sportsbikes riders will be in ruin by the time they get to Dannevegas eh Sugi?

Yeah Skel, I was thinking the same, I'll take it easy on ya's, it won't be to epic...maybe I'll have an advanced loop in mind for those that are keen near the end of the main ride

I am pulling some strings to get down there for a blast but unfortunately I have run out of panty liners.
Oh and with the cold weather there's no worries about nipples being inverted.

Never mind that you disturbingly refer to yourself as a camel in third person speak, but calling GSXR's turkeys is being a little harsh in it?

YEEE HAAA, the Wellie crew sure are stepping up to the plate!
Come on, where are the Waiarapa, Manawatu and Hawkes Bay crews?
Remember all levels of riders will enjoy this ride and with maps showing meeting points, no one should get lost or left behind.

I made a sighting run today on the 750 and quite frankly, WOW! We are in for a party.
I've allowed for the fact many will have put on a few KM's just to get to the starting point, so i cut out the torture loops i initially had in mind, though maybe I could do a advanced hardcore loop after the main ride if anyone is interested?.
The road the ride follows flows really nicely and the last quarter of the ride really opens up so people can relax.
I've found a Cafe/Gas station I never knew existed before today (it's open on sunday too) and it sells beers for those that like a quiet tipple. They sell burgers n that as well.
I noticed a few pubs along the way as well, so I will take more notice of how far along they are in tomorrows final sighting run in case a 2nd stop is required. The loop itself is well under 2 hours. (It is dawning on me not everyone likes to drain a tank of gas before stopping for a break!)

I have 99% completed the ride map, so pm me your E-mail addresses if you want a sneak preview. I will not be posting it on this thread. As mentioned I will have copies to hand out at the initial meeting point.
