Hey Swoop,
Are those sort of things in the first photo in private collections?
Difference is that these guys do actually know their stuff. But they will be so disappointed that you disagree with them. You may be (ok will be) surprised to know that there are quite a few servicemen and women, both ex and serving on here who are bloody good people - far better than most of the scum out there.Originally Posted by cock - oops doc

Yes, in the USA they are allowed to have them and even shoot them at certain times!!!Originally Posted by wysper
There are some fantastic full-noise shoots in a couple of the states. They clear the downrange area with a helicopter (a few miles to check) to ensure that nobody has strayed into the area, and then let rip at the targets. They even have radio controlled aircraft drones to fire at!
Ahh, bliss!
Takes me back to firing .50 BMG on full noise!! Great times.

They're allowed to have automatics in private collections too? I know that there are some guys (ok alot) with some serious sniper rifles, almost anti tank weapons I think I saw...?

arse, they are all blowhards cos every ex special forces serviceman I have met before doesn't bleat about it and feel the need to be the man in the eyes of the assembled congregation of the internet.Originally Posted by Wolf

These are quite nice. Small, but affective. Sure most of the Saffers knows this one. Protecta A.K.A the bulldog. Great for hunting guineafowl and stopping burglars.
Don't you just love golf?
You know I shoot both of these right? And I've represented NZ a few times....Originally Posted by sAsLEX

Yes. Collectors here can have them, just not allowed to fire them though.Originally Posted by Colapop
When the Ozzies went mental over their firearms laws and banned damn near everything, the shooters took to real accuracy ("sniper") rifles in a big way!

This gun was one of my favorites. I should of never of sold it, but trying to find parts for it in NZ was too hard, and people always looked funny at me when I took it to the range![]()
I replaced it with the gun in the last pic, its alot more controlable when you want to empty a mag very fast.
The seond one - what length is it? It looks almost jungle carbine type short.
There's a few SLR's left around the place I think - they're a bit of a collectors item nowdays though. Quite easy to turn into an auto too.

The second one is a ruger 9mm carbine and its about 900mm long I think.
The first one isnt a SLR, Its a SIG AMT, it is a civilianised swiss assault rifle. Very few left in the country. They fetch very high prices in the US if they are in mint condition.
