Yeh, all OK, thought I had broken my collarbone but just pulled a tendon partially of bone, 2-3 weeks in a sling and some really good bruising on my thigh, few cuts and minor abrasions. Helmet got fairly scraped up but no neck damage to me. Got really sore ribs and chest but supposedly no cracked ribs etc.
Happened right at bottom of Traffids hill on a big sweeper, lots of ice grit, saw it at last moment, braked hard and then just let her go and held on, front just went out and down we went, me of the front and of to the side, bike sliding along on right side, spun around and smack into steel pole with an arrow on it, that's what knackered the tank.
I was really pissed to say the least.
We were taking it pretty easy as there was a lot of road works and dirt on the road so had all slowed down.
"Goblin" was just in front of me and she got caught as well but did the speedway slide around it with the foot out.
I am bloody sore today but will survive.
The bike is very fixable so just hope they can get it done quick as, booked to go across on the ferry 29th Sept to Blenheim for a 50th.Then there is the Suzuki track day 28th Oct.

"JUST" in front of you?? Ha! You were out of sight behind me & r4q was just out of sight in front of me. I got caught out big time with the pea stones! Did the old left to right to left to right, then the foot down and made it! PHEW!!. When we got to Matawai I had a dreadful feeling you never made it round that same bend. Glad to hear there's not too much damage. Those young fullas in the little boy racer car sure were giving it the berries most of the way up the gorge It was when they never came past at Matawai I knew for sure you didn't make it. So sorry to see you down

Btw...r4q2 says he never had a "moment" on that corner but I reckon he did....he just dont wanna admit it. Oh and the ride home after dark in the rain was interesting too. r4q with his tinted visor...I could see diddly squat so I dont know how he kept a reasonable pace.

I actually saw you going up the hill towards the corner from down on the flat.... and No I wasn't trying to keep up had already slowed after a couple of miner rear end movements on the clay bits, so thought no I will ride at my own pace.
The little car was probably at the bottom of the hill as I went into the corner, think they got held up by the car & trailer in the windy bits further back as one minute they were about 100 meters behind and then when I overtook the trailer they disappeared.

Glad to hear ya collarbone aint broke. And I'm sure the GSX will be sweet. One thing tho, the riding home in the pissing rain sucked! Thanks Tony

I've had moments on the corner before but not that time. And it's only because of that past experience that I didn't have one. I've riden the Waioeka Gorge hundereds of times and I know that yah have to expect stones' rocks n mud around every corner. Especially Traffords Hill!

As for the ride home, I didn't find it hard to see where I was going, cept maybe with traffic coming the other way, but when that happens I find the trick is to not look at the cars lights, but at the white line along the side of the road. Good lights helps to I guess.

I don't think I'm gunna organise any more rides, felt pretty bad pulling up to see Tony and his nice NEW bike all banged up Hope ya heal up soon mate!

good to hear you're ok-ish WS!
although, that's a lot of effort to go to, to avoid riding in the rain!
