    Cool

A good day was had by all. When thunder and i arrived I could see legs waiving from under the trailer - ours by the way - it was Bren trying to get the spare wheel out!!! The weather was better than we expected - needed the sunshine for my cold!!! Got to take some cool photos of the guys and girls and here are some others.

1 - Bren going off road
2 - Ren and Stimpy leathers - cool!!!!

    Diesel pig’s Rd4 meeting
    Saturday
Well the weekend started out all right. Having had the porting in my bucket attended to by top kart bloke Brian Day, I would need to sort out the jetting so my old man and me headed out to our favourite bit of quiet country road, We started out with a 260 main jet we had used before but it was way lean, problem was the only bigger main jet I have is a 350 which is a big jump in one go, So we put it in which help a lot but it was really a bit rich now. Gave Kickaha a call but he had sold all his big main jets along with his superkart not even stopping to consider my needs at all when he did so, typical!
Kickaha did say to give Stanko a call and my new best mate Stanko did indeed have some and he would bring along on Sunday, so that was sweet as.

    Race Day
Rocked down to Ruapuna on Sunday early to track down Stanko and his lovely jets.
Got a 310 off Stanko and tried it out down the access road out the back of the pits.
It was a lot cleaner at the top of the revs brilliant.

    Bucket Practice
I hooked in behind Tony Mac on his FXR on the second lap of practice and managed to inch pass him by speed alone on the back straight. This boded well I thought to myself then DC blew right past me. Damn, Still some tuning to do!

    Pre 82 Practice
James had asked me to show him some lines around the B-track in the practice so I went slow on the straights so James would be right behind me when I went into the corners so he could get a good look at my lines. James said he got a lot from it so that was cool.

    1st Bucket Race
I did some stoppies on the dummy grid to get me in the mood, as I wanted to do well. When we were let out on the warm up lap I pushed hard to get on the front row, netting a spot on the right side of the front row for a straight run to the kink. I got an O.K. start with less than half-dozen buckets in front of me at the kink and only James, Tony Mac and Dangerous by the hairpin. I pushed hard to get in the lead thinking DC must be close behind. Got the lead by the second lap and strung together three fast laps thinking all the time that DC must be closing me down. Saw the white flag, Lapped Rashika (so I must have been going quick as I did not manage to do that at the last meeting) on the back straight saw the marshals pull out the checkered flag and realised I was going to win the race I was so stroked I punched the air. On the warm down lap I looked behind me to see James behind me his best result so far, DC had got fourth behind Tony Mac. Turns out he got a bad start but shit a win’s a win.

Damn that first Bucket race was the highlight of the day for me. After that I got knock off Black Betty in the first Pre 82 race at the hairpin. Black Betty got slapped around a bit and I dnf that pissed me off. I was still put off by the knock off in the second Bucket race and only got fourth. James his old man and my old man kicked Black Betty straight again. I wasn’t interested in any more crap so in the second Pre 82 race I got out the front and stayed there to the finish.

    Sorry for the late participation....

Was a good one over all. Just the cold that freezed my brain over in the late afternoon...

My heart was in my throat there for a while when DP came off... thats not supposed to happen Neil... glad you are ok though mate

2 great riders of day I reckon:

DieselPig - what a recovery... Black Betty came out screaming as did the rider in the second run of pre 82, great stuff! Stay out front mate... less complications

and Bren_chch - had only been on a bucket once before, gets out there on a foreign bike and runs top six... stunner Bren (extra marks for kicking dangerous's arse as well)

Yer it was a pretty good day, also the first bucket race the highlight for me, suprised to see Tony Mac get third in buckets buts thats all good.

However, I was keen to see what Tony's new cams bike would go like. An 1976 XL350 with a hot cam, different pipe and carb it was and being a dirt bike I didn't think it would handle too well. He persisted that it would, the old 250s sat fine on the road, so out he went... and dissapointed he came back in. He said it definatley had a lot of go, but whenever he tried to brake or corner harder, the damn thing felt terrirble at the back! Spud racer came over after riding behind him for a few laps and said that his back end looked horrible. So when we got home, out came the back well, and what do you know, it was buckled.

So next time then, it'll be out there and probably faster, as the wheel is due in to be fixed.

Oh well still a good day in all cept for the crash in a BEARS class which ruled out a third race

    see you there next time!

Lucky I didn't lend it to you, It'd need a fuck sight more than 190cc to cart you around at that speed
