    Good on you Jackrat.

What does get up my nose is when you fill out a form for some reason an they want to know what race you are. There seldom seems to be a place for New Zealander.I like to tell them I'm part Maori Then tell Them I'm also part Irish,And French, and English, and Fijian,And 100%kiwi.Bugger em' let em' make it up as they go,I think that's what they would prefer.
One day New Zealanders will get recognised as a race that has nothing to do with were our ancesters came from.
Amen to that Jackrat. I'm looking forward to that day to.
If you tell people they are racist, sexist, etc. because you think that they are treating you differently because of your race, sex or what ever, then they will treat you differently (and probably treat anyone else like you the same). If ask to be treated differently because of your race, sex, etc., you are causing racism, sexism, etc., because you are acting that way yourself.
Sorry people I'll get of the soapbox now

Used to be time in this county when being male or female made no difference. Guess I'm getting old. So I know you are male or female, you know I'm male. So what. I never look at the sign when I post anyway. Bet most don't either.

It makes conversations a bit easier as there are obvious differences between male and female.

When we talk about technical subjects ie motorcycles etc or Political or religious topics, Male and female doesn't come into it.

In KB however there are disscusions going on outside this area like the thread which had a poll for the hottest dude racer as well as the hottest chick in the other thread. Disscussions of this type are made easier with the sex indicator, wouldn't you agree?

Mrs works with stats and stuff for health and went ape at me when I told her that i put down NZer for ethnicity.

"do you know how many people do that and it throws out the standard deviation for our grid mapping....blah blah"

seems that it's used to give low decile areas more health funding etc.

I always look to see the gender of whomever I'm talking too, there are too few women on this site and I want to know if I'm lucky enough to be chatting to one.

    Anyway me
I couldn't agree with you more Jackrat and I'm 100% english, which means, duh, I'm a mongrel /hybrid of probably at least 5 nationalities but I was born in England, if it's good enough for the poms, it's good enough for NZers.

Cant say as I look at the gender symbols at all until I read this thread. And I have been and will continue to put New Zealander on official forms. Funny that they want us to all live together in harmony etc, but still want us to segregate ourselves on the paperwork ? :spudwhat:

Must comply with Govt. mandated discriminalnation.

Asking someone if they're Caucasian is bollocks too. How mant kiwis know where the Caucasus mountain range is? At least 50% of the country has some ancestry that never even emnated from Europe, let alone Central Asia.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    I am a NZer.
The only other thing i go under is Pakeha - and i dont fully know what that is yet. I mean if i tick that i may as well fill out the rest of the form as a moron.
Im not racist or anything, but when was it ok to call everything on my form in someother toungue that is not native to the person filling it in.
As for the symbols, yeh keep im, its good to know that at least some females arent obsessed with shoes and bags.
