*spoiler* All Blacks vs Wallabies 19-08-06

    [Rave]

    New Zealand-34
    Australia-27

    Victory is sweet!!!!!

Great game tonight, started off with the new Haka which sent a chill down my spine and got me in the mood to watch a good game of rough rugger. Was VERY aggressive from both sides, lots of blood and bruises, to my horror I thought Ritchie McCaw was going to be stretchered off after he got spear tackled, the slow motion replay showed his whole upper body being twisted into the ground, but he continued to fight on and played well to the end!

I thought the ref did great, quite liked his style of controlling the players and calling aloud their numbers to warn them instead of haphazardly blowing his whistle and interrupting the game all the time like some do.

Aussie nearly had it though, they led pretty much throughout by 4 or 5 points but the AB's triumphed over them in the last 20mins of the 2nd half, so I think that makes it 13 or 14 consecutive international wins for the current All Black team - WELL DONE NZ!

second Ozzie try should not have been though. He had no downward pressure on the ball when it touched.

Also havn't seen that many forward passes from both sides since the last gridiron game I watched..

Good game all the same though.

Agreed. The judgment was terrible considering they had the replay to show clearly that he never grounded the ball.

True, from both sides, and yes chanceyy the ref missed most of them...I kinda wondered at the time if he intentionally let them slide to keep to game in motion??

Hey we got a try off one of them so I'm not complaining.

yeah it look like he lost control of it as it went down .. from the number of replays .. should not have been allowed .. must have had the rose colored glasses on ..

yeah forward passes aplenty, mind you alot of the time the aussies were up pretty flat as well

but i will still take the win .. any way we can get them .. just not a comprehesive performace .. but then the aussies had absolutely nothing to lose either .. they certainly took it to us

now watching warriors . currently 18 - 20 melbourne storm .. but do not expect them to win ..

That TRY to the aussie's should NOT have been allowed at all.... He never had any pressure down on it at all.. Now the 3rd REF (tv ref) should be sacked... how the hell could he not see that in all the replays that the ball wasnt pressured down.

I hope that aussie dude (number 11) is taken to the courts and made to miss at least 10 games for that nasty spear-tackle.
How the hell the ref and the two touch ref's didnt see it... is beyond me!
Everyone else saw it. Even when the crowd boo'ed him big time... did you all notice that he was inciting them (the crowd) to keep the booing going ... well done to the ABs for not going after him.

I was impressed thou with the ref when he stopped the game and told all players to not touch the aussie dude after he crumbled down to the ground after leaping up for the ball in the lineout. He landed badly.

As to the game it started out great with the AB's.. but then they seemed to loose it... the aussies kept coming at them...

In the last 10 minutes I was thinking that we were going to loose it... but right at the end.. the AB's came throu.

So another victory to the All Blacks.

Back to the basic training and handling balls skills are required..
I bet Mr Henry gave them all a good bollocking at half time and at the end of the game...

I guess one good thing is that the players can be sighted later on if the ref does not pick up on dangerous play. Will they make a complaint though?

Yep he was cited... and there was a meeting at 10am this morning..
He didnt even apologise to our guy... and appeared arogant (sp) afterwards at the media meeting... refer to Xtra homepage news item.

Dont know what he got yet...

But our guy was very lucky... to not be in a wheelchair.

The game (AB's) was as bloody a game as I've seen. I was very disappointed by the ref. The Ab's gave away 4 penalty's throughout the game and the Aussies got away with (supposedly) only 9. How many times should a ref warn a player ie. Rocky Elsom. In the lead up to Jason Eaton's try he was warned 6 times and not penalised once. The off the ball 'play' was crap. I's not grid iron, Richie McCaw was taken out off the ball 3 or 4 times.

The Aussies were lucky. If it wasn't for two soft try's and a couple of passes that didn't stick the scoreline would've been very different (against the Aussies)

agree with ya cola .. that rocky elsom should have been penalised then sent off, then he might have pulled his head in a bit

mind you thought richie showed constrant not to punch him out when he keep taking him off the ball

as for tiquiri flaunting it in front of the crowd .. what a tosser .. hope he gets his punishment today since the ref was such a soft cock last nite

Aussie league/union convicts... oops I mean converts - why are they such assholes?

I thought the AB's constructed more chances last night, and the Aussies really didn't do too much except engage in illegal play. Yes of course I'm blatantly overlooking the AB's...

    Some stats;
    Possession: NZ 49%, Aus 51%
    Territory: NZ 46%, Aus 54%
Lineouts won: NZ 11 Aus 9
Lineouts lost: NZ 2 Aus 1
Top jumpers: Jason Eaton 5, Chris Jack 2; Nathan Sharpe 4, Daniel Vickerman 4
Scrums won: NZ 7 Aus 9
Scrums lost: NZ 0, Aus 1
Scrums reset: NZ 2, Aus 5
Rucks won: NZ 78 Aus 82
Mauls won: NZ 4, Aus 2
    Hitups: NZ 66, Aus 70
    Linebreaks: NZ 14, Aus 8
Tackles made: NZ 137, Aus 131
Tackles missed: NZ 20, Aus 17
Top tacklers: Richie McCaw 15, Chris Jack 14; Phil Waugh 20, Matt Giteau 12
    Turnovers: NZ 20, Aus 17
    Errors: NZ 15, Aus 5
Penalties conceded: NZ 4, Aus 13
