    Just a couple of mates..

F/F returned my text promptly as usual and told me his plans for the day. Since I didn't have much on, I decided to take him up on the offer to join him for a ride down SH22 and escort a Wellingtonian (Shaun aka Skelator?) back to Auckland.

I finished Uni, went home and put the much needed new tires (Pilot Powers) on my R6. I then went To F/F's house and enjoyed the delicious lunch. A few pics were taken (mine and Dave's '04 R6s, side by side in pic # 1) and we were off down SH22.

Mate, it was perfect! I hadn't gone for a ride in a long time so this was exactly what I needed to get away from my studies for a change. Overcast conditions meant that it wasn't too hot but it had been sunny previously, so it was generally quite warm. The road was beautiful and I was once again reminded of why it is one of my faviourates. The corners were nice and flowing, making me feel as though I was lost in a trance... I was 1 with the bike and all that I was thinking about was the lines I was taking and it was increadibly relaxing and soothing feeling.. It was only when I looked down at my speedo that I was reminded how fast I was going!

I had a blast! Me and F/F swapped bikes for a bit. He didn't seem to like my race shift pattern so we quickly swapped back. Since Shaun was still a fair way away, me and F/F decided to have a photo shoot session on the road side. Cheers F/F! Refer to pic # 2, 3, 4.

Not long after where we stopped for the pics, we caught up with Shaun. I decided to show off and I was quite happy with the stoppie I did infront of him. I parked the bike, walked around the bike to check the new tires' state. To my shock, half the F-ing front guard was missing! The new pilot power front was an over sized tire and something else on the guard must have been rubbing the whole time and it burnt right through! Reffer to pic # 5.

Anywho, after briefly introducing ourselves to each other, we set a nice pace on the way back as well. I had a lot of fun riding infront and behind F/F. To others on the road side, surely 2 identical bikes flying by pretty quick has to look pretty damn cool! I am sure our bikes certainly must have sounded cool as well. With everything being so similar, down to the same Micron slipon pipes.

We reached our final stop for the ride, the boat ramp near Tuakau bridge. A few of the locals on pit bikes came up and started chatting to us. They were mostly kids and were pretty impressed with our bikes and we just had a nice yarn for a good 10 - 15 mins. When we were about to leave, the kids asked us to do a burn out or something. I looked around and there wasn't anywhere to do stunts as there were loose stones all around but the bridge came into my sight instantly. So before the kids knew what show was coming their way, I ripped up and down the bride and one of the passes was pretty cool, which covered about 70% of the bridge's length on the back wheel. It's pretty narrow so lining it just right felt awsome as! When I came back, I saw a lot of loose metal but just in the spot where there was a bit of clean tarmac, I pulled a pretty good rolling stoppie infront of the kids to finish off the show.

Pretty much all of them were grinning and giving me the big thumbs up. Then F/F decided that he wanted to put on a bit of a show as well and decided to light up his rear tire and do a burn out! It must have made their day that much better. I bet they rushed off home and asked their g/f and mumies and daddies if they could buy super cool sports bikes (like R6s) too!

Then to finish off the day I had a nice dinner again at F/F's place and went home.

    The End.

Just got back from escorting Sean (aka Skelator) down to Kaiaua. Another beautiful day for a ride and I just happened to be able to get away to join him...

We met up at his sister's place around 8.30 planning to head down 22 but with the fog made a quick change of plans and headed to Clevedon. A quick brekky of pancakes and maple syrup and then we were on our way.

Roads were a little damp in places but we kept up a pretty consistent pace. Views across the gulf were stunning as usual.

Left Sean in Kaiaua to head south while I hit the road back to work. Picked up the pace on the way back as the roads were pretty much dry.

    Now back in the office...
    Exploring pastures anew...

    Thanks Jim2 for the correction.

Sorry about that Skelstar but I'm not too up to date with KB ATM and it was an odd enough name for me to remember.

I think I did pretty well last night. Don't you? Cheers for the invite and tickets. I had a great time in general. Specially when the hot little girls got topless and made out with each other!
