    Rear contra spring

I think I need a new contra spring for the street magic (the spring in the rear clutch). Since replacing my rollers with 3 x 15g ones I've got good power off the line and good top end, but after the initial surge of power it goes pretty flat till it winds out towards the top end. Completely sux for getting up hills like this.

Where do you get em and how much should I be looking at paying? Any recommendations on which weight spring to get or is it just down to trial and error?

Here are a couple of links with info on how the CVT works and what the contra spring does.

Götz at Scooteremotion can get parts from SIP scootershop Germany.
there is a knack to tuning auto scooters. generally you tune the transmission LAST. so in theory u would do the oversize barrel 1st, carb, exhaust, then the trans. malossi do a variator that comes with a torque spring. it is matched to the new power curve that the variator will unleash.
but if ya want a look go here:

Just tryin to get hold of em at the shop but they're not answering their phone... just realised they're closed on mondays though.

I'm not tuning it, just freshening it back up to stock settings but I can see why you'd do the transmission last.

How can I lock the rear variator/clutch assembly so I can undo the nut and change the spring? Is there an easy way to do it without a rattle gun or specialised tools?

    Cheers

you will need a rattle gun.
or make a 'clutch bell, holding tool'
or get someone to sit on the bike with the brake on.

Sellotape the rear brake lever to the handle bar grips, if it is a drum brake then adjust the brake first as much as you can. Use a bit of paper underneeth if you do not want sticky crap laft behind when the tape is removed. If the wheel still turns stick a large bit of wood between the wheel spokes.

You will probably need someone to push down on the clutch assembly to remove it without ruining the last bit of thread and again to get it back on again.
