There's a pretty despicable "gang" with chapters all over the country. They have gang buildings and some walk around the streets fully armed, and looking for trouble! They have targeted other gangs in the past, so it must be some part of a "turf war" going on.
They drink massive amounts of booze and I hear that drugs also get "tested" by them.
There is a bike riding group among them, some of them aren't too bad I suppose...
Weird colour clothes this gang wears though. Blue?
And their gang patch is a bit ghey...

The Lost Breed are the remnants of the older gangs before the Maori gangs took over - a lot of The Lost Breed were Grim Reapers. The King Cobra's go back a long way, into the '60's,as they were one of the original gangs. We used to call them the North Shore Angels - I remember being gate crashed by them once at a huge party, the road was lined with cars and they ran up and down over roofs and bonnets....when they came in they knocked over the concrete block wall....walked in the door where I was standing, took out the ceiling light and the phone with one swing of a baseball bat.I was lucky not to get my face kicked in that night. They later became the nucleus of Highway 61...I don't know if this Island gang has anything to do with the original gang.

I've even heard their Gang Leada makes them extort money from motorists and bikers alike ... in fact even giving them targets of the amount to collect!

This would be the same gang you call when your sister gets raped and your mother has her hip broken cos some kid gave her the bash for her milk and $2 I suppose. It is easy to do this from behind the K/B aye Swoop.

I think I'd rather call one of the other gangs if that happened.

They may have the resources to help.

I don't have a sister and if Mum broke her hip I'd call an ambulance.

And I can't do that from behind a keyboard because I'm on dialup...

Yeah but we ride VTR 250s which are way too cool to be associated with gang culture.

There's a really good NZ book about gangs and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called....
It covered all the major gangs and gang culture of the 70's and 80's - had some good photo's and stories about the 'life' from a guy who spent a whole lotta time with them.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

the only gang activity I'm interested in doesn't involve patches.

doesn't involve a hell of a lot of clothing either, or hairy arse lawless low lifes.

    other than myself.

"The Girls in the Gang" by Glennis Dennehy and Greg Newbold is also a good read
