4 stroker,
4 cylinder
250cc sports bike
Revs to 18500 (never seen it that high though0
180km/h on the clock
Has done 463900km
This is an excellent learners or just an everyday rider. Has got plenty of power when needed and really good on petrol, depending on how you ride it you can get 180km per tank, lasted me the whole week. Not bad for around 20 bucks.
The WOF only expired on the 10 August 2006 and reg is current till 26 Oct 2006.
I do regular oil and filter changes, as well as flushing out the radiator.
This bike has been a reliable bike, but the engine has become too tired now, and is making a noise from the engine, almost sounds like a 2 stroke. I’ve spoken to a few people and they have said various things, such as; tappets, worn piston rings etc.. but have been told its probably easier to upgrade to a new engine as its probably just too old.
The owner before me used it as a commuter, and the occasional stint in the weekends.
Before he sold it to me he had the battery, headstock bearings replaced, and shortened the screen.
Maintenance I’ve had done so far:
10/05 – Bike had a tune up, and a look over from Sawyers Motors
10/05 – Changed oil, filter, and flush out.
1/05 – Rear Disc and fitted a second hand rear tire.
2/06 –wof and service – replace front disc pads, front caliparers reconditioned, brake fluids changed, fork seals replaced
4/06 – Replaced Chain, front and rear sprocket from Richards motorcycles.
4/06 – Replaced fuel lines and all hose clips, changed fluids.
5/06 – Replaced spark plugs (denso meant to be as good as ngk but ¼ of the price)
So all it needs now is a new engine or fixing the current one, the engine does run and hasn’t lost much power. I take it out for a spin once a week. Bike starts 1st or 2nd time.
The gearbox and clutch are mint, nice smooth changes each time. Fairings are in average to good condition, a few scratches and paint works in pretty good condition, looks mint in black.
I’ve seen a couple of complete bikes or engines on trademe for about $650.00 which would make a cheap reliable bike. I believe Buckets n’ Bits have three in stock.
I’ll be sad to see it go, but after taking my friends RGV for a spin, I want a two stroke now. Otherwise I would be looking for a new engine.
May trade for a RGV or NSR.
