Marine guilty of “bike clone” scam to avoid speed fine

Royal Marine Corporal Gary Philips, 39, from Plymouth has been found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice by changing the colour of his motorbike to avoid a speeding offence.

Philips had been caught on a speed camera doing 75mph in a 40 zone. Fearing a driving ban, when the speeding ticket arrived he changed the bike's appearance from black to silver. He then claimed his bike’s registration had been cloned.

The judge at Plymouth Crown Court adjourned sentencing until next month but warned Philips he could face jail.

Jail time definitely NOT worth a go mate! Sounds like time for major grovelling!
